hey! i've been studying fashion folio at csm since september. Now, though, i'm having some dilemma about my future and I don't know anymore if I wanna do fine art, fashion... even photography or cinema so I thought that would be great to make a step backwards and apply for a foundation course so I can decide. There's no more places for foundation at csm or lcf as the deadline was 30th of January and I was late to apply so I am kinda lost at that moment and don't know what to do as I just came to London 8 months ago. I would be grateful forever to someone with knowledge about the topic who could give my any advice through msn (otherwise it's too slow and I don't want antoher deadline to come) about what to do or what other colleges offer foundation in art and design and are still open and are good and so on...
if anything, pvt me please.... kinda desperate lol

Do you remember how long it took them to answer you if were accepted or not at the MA after the interview?

I want to apply in LCF for fall 2010 in PR or Fashion Journalism, I'm not sure yet. Anyway, as a foreigner I want to know if it's harder to get in ? I know that I have to pass some tests such as the TOEFL, but is it still the same requests for foreigners ?
Does any foreign student have already applied there ? What are the conditions to get in ?

I would try to apply in 2011 fall..I got time,but still I wonder how much u have to pay for ur studies?whats the atmosphere?and what Route A and Route B means?? {sorry that im so stupid}

Route A is just a standard application, the system people applying for History/Business/Engineering etc use. There are some art courses on Route A.

Route B has a later deadline and a slightly different system for people doing a foundation degree in Art. You can get more info on it here:

I don't know much about Route B, but I applied myself this year through Route A for a non art related course so I might be able to help!

^ No, I applied for business and/or politics courses at York, Loughborough, Manchester, Sheffield and Edinburgh. Loughborough is my firm choice, with Sheffield as a back up. I love fashion, just not as a career!

the Fashion PR course is done together with the Journalism and Broadcast and on the first year you study all of those subjects. I'm a Fashion Journalism student myself and I'd say my class consists roughly of 100 people, about 30 being PRs. PRs have only one lecture separate from all the rest but they also have to take Introduction to Journalism, Broadcast etc. I would say I think on the first year the lectures are more journalism based and there's a LOT of writing (analysing a TV show, writing articles, analysing magazines, making a fanzine) but we've been told it will get more specific on the other two years which is good in two ways: people from other pathways won't have to take lectures in subjects they're not necessarily interested on and our lectures will be smaller. Classrooms with 100 people can be really annoying sometimes!)

The only thing I've heard about the Fashion Management one (which I was also going to apply for) is that it's less "fun" than they thought and there's a lot of Math

Overall I'm really enjoying my course and I do think that even though sometimes I can get a bit bored in a Broadcast lecture it's quite interesting to learn about the other pathways in the initial stages and work with other people..and also you still have a chance to change your mind about your pathway and go to a different one right at the beginning.

Also, don't wait for a reply from LCF. Their administration can be really slow and not very helpful. I usually call them up and pester them until they help me! haha

Hey, I'm a foreign Fashion Journalism student. I must say my interview wasn't too hard and more laid-back than I expected. I don't know if it's because she already had her mind made up about me (from my personal statement etc) or if that whole thing about international students, because they pay a higher fee, get in more easily.

It might be a bit different from you since you're French and pay EU/National fee but what I heard from the interview is that apart from the TOEFL (I think it requires a 5 or a 6 grade?) they ask you basic questions like how you could contribute to the course etc., who your favourite fashion writers are, what magazines/newspapers you read etc. I'm not 100% sure if you need to write an essay, I know I did but I've heard people that didn't. I think it depends on each case, if they're sure about you or not! Also I'm pretty sure that, because PR and Journalism are taken together, the interview/essay thing is the same for everyone.
