London College of Fashion

i have spoken to the second years and 3rd years. and their classes are a lot smaller, so there were more one on one focus.
but the thing is, they had totally different tutors. right now there is so much change going on and it's hard to say if it is for the better or not, because lcf is not telling anyone anything and from what they have told my course director, it just sounds like i am getting 1/3 of what they said we will receive when i enrolled for the course.
i find one of the big problems i have with this school or perhaps most schools here is that, they tutors don't teach. unless i ask a to the point question, they don't teach, as if they expect us to know everything. but most people in my course don't know a thing about what we are here to learn, that's the point of us coming to school.

what course are you currently on now??

im on bespoke tailoring.
i dont know, things are just looking so morbid these days. even my current course director said he didnt want to lie to us and tell us everything is going to be fine.

the sad thing is, i told my parents about what is going on and all they care about is for me to get the degree so they can finish their job, while i actually want to get an education out of the time limited funding they are giving me.

the latest on my story is that we complained to one of our teachers about the lack of creative writing classes in a JOURNALISM course (we haven't been taught how to write yet, we only get marked on the very few essays we have to write and don't even get feedback from the teachers on how to improve) and the teacher told us he started a new class for the second years because they were complaining about that as well....

... but we next year won't be having this new class because of LACK OF FUNDS, even though they have INCREASED OUR FEES. this is just another slap on the face. and don't even dare complaining about anything to the head of the course, she gets SO defensive about it because it's her course.

management course

I applied for the Ba Honours in Fashion Management course and wondering if there is anyone else who is doing or has done the course and what you thought about it? Any input will help greatly.

What are the teachers like? What are the exams like? What kind of assignments do you do? How is the school? What are the classes like? Have you learned a lot? have you got many contacts in the industry? Do they help you get a job afterwards or internships?

Thank you so much.

Well i applied directly to the second year as I am transferring but I dont know if its hard, i havnt been to the interview process yet its on monday so I can tell you about the interview process then. It says it's a 5 hour process so I am quite nervous.

Fait, you'll have to tell me all about it!
Katie123, why are you so sure? ;D

International student = higher fees = more money. It's like that at most universities, they usually get much lower grade offers.

it's a well known fact in our university. interviews for non-eu students are so easy and some of them are even done by phone (even a journalism one when you would obviously need to show an example of writing)

yea, i thought it would be pretty intense too. i thought there would be more pattern cutting, which was what i wanted to learn, but we barely learned anything in pattern cutting class since the tutor either doesnt show up or just plainly dont know how to teach. im sure he is very good, but he is just not teacher material.

I know how you feel. I really don't want to bad nouth the the university because I know just how lucky I am to be there and I am so thankful to be there but there's something very off with the scheduling. I am a designer pattern cutter student [key word:pattern cutter] and we would only have one day (9:00-4:00) dedicated to actual pattern cutting. Now considering the course is for us to specialise in pattern cutting, there isn't a great deal of pattern cutting classes going on.
At the end of each term they ask you to fill out an anonymous feedback form of things we believe could be improved, and I know loads of people have requested for more pattern cutting classes but our requests have fallen on deaf ears.

I'm graduating this year, and I just know I'm not going to be experienced enough to get hired. it seems the only people confident with their skills are those that have previous experience.

But what if I am non UK, but EU student, is it still easier to get in?

Heybafchloe, i havent had my interview yet.. its scheduled for 26th may.. havent a clue what i am meant to expect.. theyve just said there willbe a a language test, and group interview..the whole things should take 3 hours...

If anyone has had a interview for the media and communication access course ... it would be great if you could share your experience..

how did the interview go? what kind of questions they asked you?

Do you know what else they require for international students that wants to apply? Any tests or something?:flower:

apart from the interview that everyone has to go through there's a certain level of english required...depending on the course, the journalism one is a bit higher!

i'll be doing Access to HE, Fashion Media & Communication, anyone else as well? Starting in September..

Have any american students applied to LCF and gotten accepted?please pm me I have a few questions to ask.=)
