Londons Newest Star: Gavin Douglas.

there is a New`star in london, he is one of my countrymen (jamaican)
he is the newest winner of Londons Fashion fringe award.
He was given the award by the former Gucci Designer, who made the brand really hip and successful.

no, i think he has the namwe of a famous car maker, cant remember right now............... Oh, I rememer !!!!!!!!
his name is Tom Ford, Yea that it!

Anyway i spoke to Gavin yesterday, he is in NY right now, (we may have dinner this evening, (im very busy, it depends on how much i get done by 7pm and if he is not busy........ he leaves for london tomorrow.
there is a lot being written about him lately, tried to post a few things but couldnt

GAVIN DOUGLAS, winner of the 2006 Fashion Fringe competition last month, surely has what it takes to get to the top. Apparently when he first met Tom Ford, chairman of the competition founded by Colin McDowell, Douglas presented the most famous man in fashion with a business card before rapidly requesting one of Ford's in return. And he got one.

I don't think his collection was the best at the Fashion Fringe contest - my money was on Sixth and Seven Eighths but I'm looking forward to seeing his collection up for sale on Yoox (part of the Fashion Fringe prize).

yes He was there, i wasnt. I was asked to do the show earlier this year, I opted not to because the plan was to show the collection during NY fashion week. However, you all know the disaster that happened,
Now we have to end up going to court over the whole situation...........

maybe he won because it appealed to Ford's sexy, dark woman. it's all lighted up. but the aesthetic is there.dark sexy coloours, gold buttons..

well I dont know the reason he won, one thing i know is i am happy for him.
he was born in london but he is of jamaican parents. he also showed in Jamaica during caribbean fashion week. i havent met him personally but we've spoken a couple of times by e-mail
we were supposded to meet on tuesday but we were both busy and it never happened.
i will be rooting for him coming LFW in februrary.

He was front row at John Galliano's show in paris earlier this month (by special invitation) and seemed to be getting a lot of support from heavy hitting industry people
