Does anyone see a demand coming for longer skirts - I noticed it a bit of it on the fall runways and am curious to see how much will be transferred into the stores. What do you think?

And what would you wear with longer, full length skirts?

true, long hems are back but for me its either floor length or over the knee

i find the 'in between' length as in the MJ plaid 'sarong' is a bit off

Long skirts are always a must for me in the fall or winter. Ever since I was a little girl I tried to understand why grown women wore minis in the cold weather (tights or not it was wierd).

funny--i am seeing the very opposite...
short and definitely above the knee-as lena mentioned...

oh I definitely think that the short is still predominate, but this is the first year I've noticed myself the full hem in skirts that I actually like - before I always found them frumpy.

I like them trailing the floor. Between the knees and ankles is SUCH a hard length to pull off.......I have trouble buying long skirts because if the waist fits, it means the length is usually a tad too short going into that 'difficult skirt length' territory. I think I need to make skirt extensions or something......

its definitely a trend, even at 'mainstream' american catwalks..

I dunno.... I know so many women (40-50ish) who do the long long black skirt and flat boots and have been wearing that for A LONG time so to call a long skirt a trend is a little odd........ I kind of see it as a revived basic.....

Hi, I'm new :flower:
I was a bit surprised when minis/short hemlines were the subject of so many editorials in the fall fashion mags, and there were but few on longer hemlines. On my part, I saw short/long as parallel trends, but I did notice the latter more so at first. I think they may go forward to spring or next fall - as I recall, MJ's resort had some long skirts, and it might dovetail with the grunge trend, perhaps.

A few more examples of longer skirts on the runway this fall (from style.com:(

agreed on the long/short paralelle, basically that's how trends work, when we see one direction, the opposite also rises to give 'alternatives' to the consumer ..spend, spend , spend

skirted, thanks for the fab examples posted and a warm welcome to tFS :flower:

I think floor length can look elegant n sleek, but not practical to move in for everyday life. Mid calf length doesn't sound good to me, reminds me of mid age women like susie said.

Also concur with the fact that long and short skirt trends are parallel.

welcome to TFS, Skirted!. such wonderful examples. :woot:

Ladybug, excellent trend spotting, my fave lenght for the season is mid calf, like the MJ Lena posted. Fabulous.

It is the most flattering skirt lenght when paired with ankle boots.
