who here has an sa? i don't mean a stylist, i mean a personal shopping assistant; i feel like there's a big difference between someone trying to help me define my style and someone who would take my style out into the stores and find me things i'm looking for as well as things i might like. i live a fair drive away from any really formitable city, but we do have a saks nearby: should i just go there and see if they offer sa services, or should i call say, barney's in atlanta or boston and ask there? and then, what do i even say? any tips would be so appreciated.

yeah--- i'd LOVE to know if anyone actually has a shopping assistant...
as far as i know...no one really does...

do you mean like a personal shopper?..

i don't even think such a job really exists...
they just have 'sales associates' in every store that they shop in regularly who call them and work with them regularly whenever they come to their store...

does anybody know of any ?

Shopping assistant? That sounds like a very PC way of saying sales associate.

Personal shoppers are different, being that they don't shop with you, and shop for things you're looking for and things that you might like.

Stylists are wholly different, they put you in clothes that may or may not be your look...

I know Saks offers personal shoppers, not in all thier stores though. Like Softgrey said, most GOOD sales associates are essentially stylists/personal shoppers, because that means bigger dollars plus you lock your client into shopping with you only because noone can replicate your look. Ill stop there because I dont want to give away all my tricks!!

Use tFS as your shopping assistants, post stuff and we'll pick it apart.

i have an sa, but it's basically just him calling me for sales or new things i might like. i dont get style advice from him or anything.

that's mostly what i meant, someone who would call me if they found something i liked, or someone who i could call and say, "i'm looking for such and such, maybe made out of such and such, so if you could keep your eyes peeled," and that sort of thing. i would never want a stylist, i am so picky about my personal style. but thank you guys for all your advice!!

i used to do that for a bit. personal shopping. some ladies would want me to get them all the it bags of the season and restyle their wardrobe (just an example). also i would make sure the items they reserved will be put on hold for them... i mean its basically what a really really good SA should be doing.. other than that if you are talking about personal shopping, in my case the ladies would come with me to define their style. what they like, do not like. their measurements and their lifestyle would be analized in order to be as close as possible to all their needs...
well it is really a bit more complex than that but as you can see i am very random tonight and not focused enough to give you a concise answer :)

I thought all SAs did that? That was a natural instinct for me, "call them if a purple bag comes in!" Blah whatever, if they like True Religion Joey jeans in a 28 Ill call them when we get new stock in, then recommend shoes to go with, bags. Like Leyla said, a good SA refines and defines thier clients wardrobe.
