Louis Vuitton 'Capucines' Handbags F/W 2022.23 by Steven Meisel

I can't say if this is by Meisel. Jill never worked with him.

The halo of make-up and something in the lightning screams make-up. The styling and the cast are very Carine tho…
Considering that the Capucines is not a Nicolas’s design (neither it was Marc’s) and I believe Carine has been involved with most Capucines and institutional campaigns at LV, this is probably a Carine/Meisel thing.

They all looks great! Jill looks her best. I wish they all wore the sweaters in all the photos…

The videos look cheap af. Girls look good, though. The result is quite mediocre considering the budget, team, etc...

I can't say if this is by Meisel.

The proof is in the makeup/retouching, indeed. I find that he has a very recognisable softness and glow of skin to his portraits (granted that EJG has gotten very good at copying all of that, so one can never safely guess anymore).

I like it, it serves its purpose and I do agree that it would've been better if they wore the sweaters in all shots since they elevate the simple styling to something more elegant than a tank top and a schoolgirl skirt.

Wow! Made my day. So happy for Jill scoring her first Meisel job. And I'm so glad the Meisel/Carine pair is back.

I don't like the bag and I find the campaign quite mediocre. Meisel and Carine's duo doesn't do much for me anymore. The magic is gone, this is just them being on autopilot. Even MAS and Meisel are more exciting.

Why does LV always give the same boring bags (Capucine, Twist, Alma, etc...) separate campaigns but never the Petite Malle? Why do I have a feeling they will discontinue it when Nicolas is gone?

Except for maybe the 4 classic models that are part of the permanent collection, most of the Petite Malle are limited editions. It’s like their special novelty piece and it sells on it own for those who collects anyway.

I wished they pushed the Dora more. Such a great day bag.

I think they will likely continue to produce Nicolas’s era bags once he leaves. They needed those bags in their line-up.

It’s a pity Vuitton stopped producing the Sofia Coppola bag.

^^^The Sofia bag was timeless. Simple but so modern.

These bags are gross. Looks like a build-a-bag slop targeted towards Midwestern 15yo girls.

Carine being utterly useless these days is a given, but was Meisel necessary? It’s all so generic midrange department-store window display, that could have been shot by any product photographer. Jill is gorgeous as always— even when they dress her in Shein, but the only noticeably good spot in all of this is that Mona resembles a young Yasmeen Ghauri. Not sure if that’s because of Meisel or the MUA.

Their decade-long commitment to trying to make this hideous bag happen is so weird to me. Maybe it sells well in certain markets?

Agreed. I thought the City Steamer was decent too. But the Capucines is just not it. It's so tacky.

Tacky? Really? I find it to be one of the least tacky from LV, if anything I think the design is impractical and I'm surprised it has lasted this long.

Anyways, I do love the set design, even if it reads a bit Versace.

This just feels so fresh and vibrant that I cannot help but love it! One of Meisel's strongest Vuitton campaigns, without a doubt. I love the colours, the set and how Carine Roitfeld's styling doesn't overpower the bags. For me, Rebecca Leigh Longendyke is the standout model here!
