Louis Vuitton Pre-Fall 2015 Paris

The worst collection he has done so far.

Its like taking 2 looks from the last 3 collections and putting them together. That, to me, is not design.

I'm kind of shocked at the route he has taken for LV. It seems like he's ran out of ideas after his first season at the house. It's sad because I expect a lot more from him. :(

Ok now that he has really establish the new LV girls aesthetic, can we move on from this? It’s a nice collection but nothing major at all.

Well it is pre-fall for a label that does itd business with bags. I guess I wasn't expecting much more than this.

Actually I find the repetition interesting as it suggests these styles have sold well and so they're repeating them.

I like this more classic oriented effort from Nicholas though something about this overall presentation seems awkward to me. Some of the styling looks sloppy and not very flattering to the clothes.

My biggest criticism however is that with this season more than ever I can really see that 50+ woman who is actually buying these clothes and she's someone I'd make an effort to avoid at a cocktail party.

I like this but the shoes and those 3/4 jeans are hideous

I don't think he's lost it at all.

If anything, he's versatile enough, smart enough to know that he's designing for a corporation, and giving them what will sell to their clientele. The overall silhouette may not be anything exciting and new and rather typical rich-girl-doing-the-shabby-chic-look, but don't dismiss the coats and jackets so quickly... Have another gander and I think all the party girls around the world will be lusting over them: That combination of thriftstore appeal, ultra-luxe fabric and craftsmanship, along with the Nicolas Ghesquiere for Louis Vuitton cache will guarantee profits from the RTW now.

where is the common theme ? i miss a clear line - such a hodgepodge and huddle muddle :(

My sentiments are pretty similar, because you know what he is capable of this just doesn't make sense. Sure Louis Vuitton want to sell the ready-to-wear and the idea of creating a wardrobe is great, but there's no impulse to buy the same thing every season. I don't think Ghesquière has run out of ideas though, just biding his time...i hope.

But Pre-Fall and Resort collections sell better than RTW collections, so you'd think he put some more effort in it.

His collections at LV are so incredibly commercial and all look so similar. You'd think that at LV, with an endless budget, he'd have more creative freedom that Balenciaga. Marc Jacobs' designs were a lot more unconventional.

All he does is short dresses with long coats, and horribly loose pants

I must say, he's improved in the accessories department- I actually like the bags now. If you take a quick glance at the collection, you'll get the whole "its the same thing" sentiment, which is understandable because it is the same silhouette, same fitted jacket. But if you look at the collection more closely, you'll see he's increased the lengths and proportions of the coats, and introduced pants that are not as fitted. The Vuitton girl has definitely matured a bit in this collection.
I do however agree though, that his last 3 collections were way too safe and repetitive. It would be nice if he carried this idea of not making it such a youthful collection and shook things up a bit(I definitely sound like I'm an old woman saying this meanwhile I just turned 21:P)

It's very hard for me to believe that Nicolas designed this. I'm more than positive it was done by the team I mean this is just so… dull… The only look I like is that one on Olympia but then again he did those jeans for spring and this execution is similar to the Prada resort/mens

My sentiments exactly! I agree it may be his weakest collection so far, but with that said, I still enjoyed it.
And I actually thought the spring show was very different from the fall show, and I can't wait to see the next RTW show! :flower:
I think he is pretty much defining chic for the current young, fashion interested generation.

I feel like his work at Vuitton is pretty much in the spirit of the Balenciaga FW 2012 collection.
I like it. He is taking baby steps and it's working. I like the fact that it's the continuation of his first few collections. I've bought some pieces from his FW collection and i'll buy some of it.
And now, the bags are really good at Vuitton! Marc bags weren't very practical at the end of his tenure.

I love the dotted parka (an hommage to Marc?) and the look with the long coat, the blue & red turtleneck and the denim pant: PERFECT!

My only complain about this is the fact that the models are not so polished. I want to see some sophistication in the look of the girls...that "Parisienne" allure is a bit passé for me.

I don't take much away from pre-fall. It's nowhere near as important as RTW. Resort however is one that people should have strong feelings about. These are just good clothes to fill the racks and nothing more.

GodDA#M this sh!t is ugly!! For a collection that has longer shelf life than the RTW, you would think he would create a collection of desirable pieces but this is all a complete eyesore.

Vuitton is a bit different from other brands since it doesn't wholesale their collection (could be wrong maybe someone can confirm). So while pre-fall is an important season at department stores it's less so for Vuitton who sell it through their RTW through their own stores which are visited by people who are mainly looking for bags.

I'm not trying to excuse this collection, merely offer some logic behind it. It seems like people who are buying the clothes are looking for special status pieces rather than a wardrobe. So that explains the lack of focus here. AndAs I mentioned before, it seems like they have found their key iconic pieces and are trying to reinforce them.

I don't think it's a matter of putting out a whole new concept every season, it's more about taking time to craft and engineer these flagship pieces.

My issue is that none of it seems all that desirable.
