Well, her last name is Vietnamese. But perhaps her family identify themselves as "Chinese."

There's quite a significant number of ethnic Chinese in Vietnam (my own parents being so); Melanie's surname Huynh is Vietnamese but that surname is also equivalent to Wong. When Chinese immigrants arrived in Vietnam, their Chinese surnames were translated into Vietnamese.
If that article is correct, we can assume her father was an ethnic Chinese from Vietnam (Hoa). 'Huynh' is in fact a very common last name amongst the Chinese-Vietnamese.

I love the pairing of her jade green leather jacket and the skirt -epitomises her style: understated yet with a certain eye for matching pieces.

Oh I couldn't disagree more, it's one very beautiful Celine skirt in the most amazing camel-caramel colour from the most buttery soft and perfectly treated and finished leather.

It's the way she is wearing it that is hideous.

The skirt from Celine and the jacket from Balenciaga are both beautiful on itself but perhaps not that much together. Mélanie styled it in the same way as she did with a grey-ish Chloe skirt a few years back.

I don't think I will get over seeing her in a killer leather jacket paired with a micro mini, stockings and black ankle boots. Its a combination that works almost every time. The above outfit with the Celine skirt is an example of one exception to this fact.
