Madonna a very strict mother

No TV? Aw. Isn't that part of being a kid, being able to actually enjoy things, like cartoons, or comedy shows, or Disney-type shows...? I don't think a little bit could hurt.
exactly, it's all part of growing up, i mean, you can't avoid the influence of television or mainstream habits (like going out for an ice-cream ;) ) it's all part of that stream of lil' nice childhood memories

It's one good way to ensure your children aren't watching the "Like a Virgin" video :innocent:

I think this is all a bit hypocrytical of her. she's famous in large part beause of TV (her videos, awards show performances etc), endorsement deals (Pepsi etc.) and she's also guest starred on different TV shows (Will and Grace, SNL).

it seems like she's got the attitude that she can get rich off using TV as a medium to reach other people's impressional kids and make money off that but her kids should not be exposed to the sensational stuff that TV puts out that she's a part of

"Time goes by, so slowly"

tee hee...I can't get her new song out of my head...I even hear it when I sleeping...

lolz

to be honest i wish i had spent my childhood bird watching, fly fishing, reading jack kerouac, and learning the building blocks of life for real in the flesh instead of sitting watching the tv. maybe if things unfolded that way i might not be internet savvy? i'd probably be doing something tedious like needle pointing quotes from my favorite buddhist doctrines.

^ Like I say, I did grow up this way ... words and books were very important to me from almost day one, and I make my living with words today. Sure, TV informs (among other things), but people had information before TV, and it's still possible to be informed today without it :D

If you ban TV for your kids, you are making a choice to make them different (if they're not already). I am very comfortable being different today, and as I say, it's a choice I've made again for myself as an adult that I'm very happy with.

Not sure what I'd do if I had kids ... I would probably try to give them maximum flexibility, which would mean limited TV.

That's so funny  I think you must have been channeling Madonna herself there, lol.

Thanks to Madonna I've had Gimme Gimme Gimme stuck in my head since Monday. :p

its kind of exaggerated. They could watch some disney and cartoon network and also some child friendly movies. some magazines arent also too bad, i ve noticed being too strict leads to extreme brats

My parents got rid of our TV when I was about 4 because of the violence on kids programmes. I wasn't terribly off without it, we had a huge house and loads to do, but socially - I felt really really left out. Kids at school would talk about a programme and I'd not be able to participate in the conversation. It became a very embarrassing thing for me, I wouldn't want anybody to know I didn't have a TV, when they came over, I'd only hope they didn't notice as we had 2 lounges and I'd not take them into the second one so they'd think I had a TV in there.

I was also a lot worse than my peers at basic general knowlege tests and didn't really know what was going on in the world, though I have quite a high IQ and did well at school.

People in 3rd world countries do perfectly fine without a TV, and I don't think it is essential in a person's life. There are benefits in watching and not watching.

I allow my child to watch a little bit of TV, around 45 minutes of educational kids programmes most days and thats about it. If he wants to watch more - I put on a national geographic channel. Some days I will not even put it on at all.

Madonna obviously loves her kids, she sounds like she's trying to mould her kids into perfect little beings the best way she knows how. She may be trying to purify her own past.

They don't see her videos...... but in which video is she having sex and fighting???

^ I've never seen it. :) Knew that it was banned from MTV, though!

And we have to realize that no matter what, her kids WILL discover who their mother is, and what work she has done..
