Making Your Own Jewelry!

Arksiel, try doing a search at crafster! There are tons of topics about resin, but it's EXTREMELY toxic and difficult to work with. Or so I've heard

I really love seeing pictures from all the crafty TFS people, more pictures please!! :flower: Thank you to everyone who commented on my jewellery

thanks so much for the website reference, I LOVE LOVE it! of course, it wont replace tFS, but it will get a lot of reading

I took a jewelry class in school. We made our own glass beads by melting glass rods. We also used a clay that turns into silver when cooked... PMC, something like that... ^_^

more stuff from me!

ok, so I added a few more pieces, here is the run down!

1) layered seed bead star necklace - love the colours of this, but am not sure if I completely like it. only time will tell I suppose. took me forever to do, however.

2) Candy Red beaded necklace - really simple, but I love it. I wore it the other night with a v-neck black tank, and a black skirt with white polka dots, it looked great!

3) shell pendants - Im going through this shell phase, I love them. also have tons of them. my favourite one is the spiral wrapped all around with gold wire. they now need to find homes on necklaces! Im thinking of doing a charm/layered piece with several of them on one necklace...

4) faux pearl and seed beed dual strand bracelet - I love this, because its so understated...even my grandmother loved it! and the pastel green gives it a subtle difference from all of the other pearls I own. the green is a little bit brighter than in the picture, but not by much.

Im looking forward to seeing more creations from others! and the crafster link proved to be very helpfull, once I have more cashola I will be delving into the world of resin made pendants! can't wait!

arksiel...
i personally prefer 'chunkier' jewelry...
so am loving the red and the shells are soooooooo nice...

glad you've 'overcome' your fear...;)
:flower:

I like those shell pendants.

I'm going through an earthtone/naturalistic phase at the moment, and so they reall appeal to my aesthetic sense.

thanks guys.
soft - Im having a hard time coming up with designs for larger jewellery that arent just over the top...Ive made a few that I didn't like, and therefore took apart to use the beads in something else! that was the first piece I liked enough to keep.

AYLI: Ive been rather obsessed with shells, pearls, and wooden beads of late, although I keep running into cheap looking wood beads that I wouldnt use. have you done anything lately? I love seeing your work.....

Im also currently working on some 'cuff' type bracelets with various pieces of fabric trim.

Oh my god you guys - there is so much talent here :)

I have been designing and making jewellery for a while...I am really addicted too! I am really getting into all the chunky stuff right now - also love colour and unusual shapes.

You can see my stuff at: www.theresnoplacelikehome.com.au (Elena Dwyer)

Arkseil...all your's still looking grand! I really like the mint green/aqua pearls seperating, they add a really nice touch. I really like the clasp, it fits really well. I love the red candy necklace too it's got a sense of humour about it

Aer.

Its been a while, but here are some earrings I made today. Nothing fancy, just having fun and some cheap easy ones. What do you think?

oh Kim, don't be jealous, you just need motivation! I only started after reading this thread....before that, I made a bunch of silly 'raver grrl' bracelets out of pony beads and elastic in highschool...nothing else! I bet you could create great things, as well!

Attitude, I agree with the others, I love the feather earring. I have been wanting to start working with feathers, I love it when they are incorporated into jewellery!

I also like the green one, is that a 'berry' or 'raspberry' bead on there? I have been looking for beads like this but so far have not been successfull...!

I know Im a geek that always overstates things, but I get so happy when you all share your stuff, really talented people! I think Im on a sugar high, wee...

Aer.

Thanks everyone. Arksiel, I have no idea what you mean. I just buy the beads I love at some shops and just doing my thing. Making for friends, sell them or just having fun.

To everyone else who loves to make some, like Fab FF, just do it. The worst thing that could happen is that it didn't turned out the way u wanted. Anyway, just do your thing and share it at this thread. :D

Thanks again.
more to come soon.
