A triumph of the imagination. Something about the white space, tingling frequencies, circular motions, cluster embroideries (were those grapes? Was that Gaga?:( A glam rock seance on Avenue Marceau?

Clearly best in show, which isn't much of a victory considering how flat fashion week has been. I wish his rivals in New York were better prepared.

Yes, that was Gaga, she had her look backstage labeled under "Stephanie".

Now, about the collection. This reminds me of Galliano. The BIG silhouettes, the use of fur, the over the top makeup .. it IS quitessential Marc Jacobs, but with a twist.

I LOVE it. The materials, the shapes, the shoes (to me BIG winners), the ouerwear, the styling and especially the makeup. It looks he put thought and effort into this collection. Bravo!

Hated the shoes, hair and makeup. So severe. So many almost tumbles, luckily no one went crashing. That aside, there are some really nice pieces in there. Overall a bit too oversized for my liking but cohesive and memorable nonetheless.

He stole the entire NYFW and he knew it when he came out at the finale
This is just great, from the beginning to the end. From music to details on the clothes. Bravo!

This was hands down the best show of NYFW. The Victorian influences combined with contemporary punk and goth elements and the exaggerated proportions made this truly stunning. Plus, I was pleasantly surprised to see Gaga in the show! Bravo, Marc!

This is giving me Galliano vibes, but it feels a little messy (in a not so good way). I also rolled my eyes when I saw Gaga in the show.

While Alex Wang is clinging to the idea of his punk girl knock-off out arrives Marc to throttle his vision and present something truly beautiful and authentic.

When there's so many 'minimal' designers out there presenting shows with make-up less models and bed hair, it's incredibly refreshing to see someone be so brave and just present fashion in a way that transports you to somewhere completely out of the ordinary.

Marc is one of the last designers that truly put on a show and you have to give him that. Whether the clothes live up to the whole spectacle is always up for debate, but this is what everyone misses - a grand presentation that transports you to another place and makes you feel something.

I agree that the styling is what makes this not as perfect as it should be! So refreshing to finally see theatricality in fashion again!! ENOUGH with the grunge minimalist "fake vintage" street crap everyone's been hyping about please!!

I must say though, I've witnessed a lot of fashion shows, from the most macabre of Mcqueen to the most historical of Galliano's, but none have truly terrified more than the hair and make up of this show!!

what is this tragic mess

the gif on the first page sums it up...is it katie grand who styles this too? ew. trying to be hip and relevant but they're just not anymore.

Yes, it was very entertaining, theatrical, dreamy, blahblahblah... but that's all this really is: theatricality for the sake of theatricality. It doesn't move or excite me one bit. He's so pretentious these days, these larger than life presentations but the clothes are simply rubbish. Not to mention the blatant impersonation of other designers which makes the whole thing even more soulless and gimmicky. Shock-value and face-value with zero depth. Actually now it makes sense having Lady Gaga there...

i only MUST HAVE THIS :mohawk: from the show:

:buzz::bounce::heart:

I enjoy his theatrics, but when you take that away not much remains, a lot of clutter. Felt like a dark Alice in Wonderland.

Agree, it is very similar to Galliano in Dior time...

Some pieces are stunning. I love it. I like the Show,i like the Looks, the embroidery coats are gorgeous.
But all this is not wearable, maybe some pieces.
There are many pieces from his past collections but who cares, it seems to be the best Show of NYFW , ok, must say that NYFW was a little bit boring.

Marc? So pretentious? I don't think so.

Marc has never striked me as the pretentious type, because all his shows and collections - whether they be dark and moody or cartoony - always come across as an excercise in creativity, joy, playfulness and bravery. He does what he likes, he clearly enjoys the process and that joy shows! I never feel like he's ever trying to prove a point. Plus - he's never shy about his admiration, respect and love of other designers that he references.

Pretentious is Proenza Schouler...spouting every modern artist's name as a reference, all the while their collections look like a desperate attempt to knock Céline. Pretentious is Vetements...acting like they've solved fashion by making a hoodie and copying Margiela.
