dito to esile....i have a few marks along the top kisslock area on the leather (one small lil nick was there when i first received it in the beginning) but i haven't had any problems thus far...but i treat my bags like they're made of glass

Would anyone here be able to tell me if this Stam is authentic or not? I posted in the Authenticity thread but I figured you were all Stam pros! I was told it's the violet color but appears to be more bordeaux/burgundy to me - she said she bought it last year @ Nordstroms> any help would be great as I have NO clue on stams. Thank you!:flower:

as soon as she sends you those other pics in better lighting i'll try and help you out /\

Ah I asked her and she said those are in natural lighting, that her camera is causing it to look warmer than it is. Here's a pic of the Nordstrom barcode/tags. She said it's violet, should it say that on the tag somewhere?

can she take a more up close pic of the 'marc jacobs' logo on the kisslock and side of the zipper pull? it looks like the bordeux from fall....but im not going to give her the benefit of the doubt yet...

i really do not think those other photos are in natural light. you can see one side is lit from maybe light from a window, but it definately has an artificial light on it as well, that's giving it the yellow cast....

tiebabob, the piping is a bit fragile on both of my bags, but I don't think that scuffs and that sort of thing detract from the beauty of the bag at all just because of how it looks vintage to begin with. Plus that's such a tiny area of the bag, even though you might notice it on close inspection, I doubt anyone else would be able to see. Overall the bag is quite durable and IMO looks better when broken in, etc. than when you're afraid to touch it. :flower:

pixiedust, would it be possible for you to ask the seller to send high quality pictures of the stam? Makes it easier for inspection as well.
My putty stam from NAP came attached with a tag that stated the colour but I am not sure if that was done for the first season as well.

Still on the fence about this one...

Drusilla, Jun and Esile...thank you for your feedback. I keep forgetting about the apple guard conditioner stuff...so I will look online for it tonight. I suppose I should probably apple guard all of my other leather bags just to be safe...it's sounds like a good habit to get into anyway. And Drusilla...I like your point about the natural wearing process adding to the vintagey quality of the bag. That makes me feel much better. Thank you to all!

I'm still loving my new addition-the little stam, but has any one had problems with the frame not sticking right when you close it, and how about the kiss & hug closure metal does the gold fade over time into a silverish color?
Thanx

Pixiedust- it may be just me, but the size of the bag is a bit off, shouldnt it be a bit bigger? ask her for the dimensions of the bag she is selling

Please don't quote pictures
Pixiedust0128!
Not only is it a fake, it's a baaaaad fake!!! :yuk: You could simply tell by the bottom of the bag. The quilting's supposed to connect smoothly at the seam creating small diamond shapes. The color of the inner compartment canvas lining's just not right (too bright compared to the suede) I see a couple of other wrong hardware but I guess that's enough. Good luck on your stam search! ;)

if anyone still wants one,
theres a black and metallic bronze stam available at saks in bala cynwood (philadelphia)

the divag~ since this is from the first season, the diamonds do not neccessarily line up like the newer stams. This is a faulty way of deciding on whether or not the bag is fake and is constantly brought up in the auth. or fake forum, in which i am constantly telling people that with the the first batch, not everything was perfect. i posted pics of the bottom of my taupe pages back for referance. i'll try and find them to post again :flower:

here are my own pics as well as some pics from angstofgumby (hope she doesn't mind) to show that the first batch had poor consistancy with lining up of quilted diamonds along the botttom.

This quilting is only a little bit off; the quilting on the violet stam is way off as far as I can tell.

i wish the seller would just take some decent pics. i was only showing these pics as referance because some use the diamonds as the difinitive reason to say fake or authentic and i think it should only be one of many factors.

does anyone else of here have a first season stam they could take pics of the bottom??? that way we could determine the extent of how off some of the bags are or aren't.....
