Marc Jacobs Stam Bag (September 2005 - March 2010)

I was at Saks today and saw the white chiffon stam and topaz stam.

The white chiffon is really a creamy white with a tinge of yellow but somehow the contrast stitching looks a little harsh on it.

The topaz stam just seemed very strange too me - I think the colour really doesn't suit the design at all.

Overall, I'm glad that I have my putty, the latest batch of stams are not really doing anything for me.

Wow, let's try this a third time. Anyway, personalshoppers on eBay (wonderful seller) has photos of some of the resort Stams up and I thought I'd post to the thread since her pictures are always nice and clear.

White chiffon:

Almond:

And a photo of hers of the putty, for comparison purposes:

Now, I have that putty in person, and the color is definitely darker (like the photo of the almond but with a grey/cement cast), so I assume the almond and white chiffon are a bit darker in person as well.

It seems like the almond is somewhere between the fall's cashew color and the white chiffon, definitely more warm-toned than the putty. My favorite Stam neutrals are still the putty and the mouse, but my personal preference is always to cool/grey-toned neutrals. Where warmer ones are concerned, I think this batch is superior to the fall's. The camel was just horrible and I don't think the cashew was anything special, either.

I saw the new stams that have python handles and trim today at Saks. The body of the bag is a glazed quilted fabric of some kind (??). They are really really great looking and I thought I was totally "over" the stam. One of the bags I saw had grey python trim on a cream colored body and the other (my favorite - even though it might sound odd) was honey colored python on a blue-ish grey body. Both were great looking IMO. Has anyone seen these?

^ I saw those at saks a few days ago. Personally I didnt really like them, I never really like cloth bags though.

oh jan I saw one at saks too and to be honest I thought it was quite horrible, not really stam-worthy at all :(

(sorry )

They've posted about it over at the purse forum, it's a PVC coated canvas or something. The two colours you're talking about are called cream and navy I think, but not sure on the cream. I think the navy could be cute, but I'd rather just have a navy stam, the python is overkill imo. BTW they are 1300$ For a spinoff bag I think it's an ok price, especially since it comes with python. (I think the Paddington spinoff bags are insanely expensive.:ninja:)

i saw the black and teal coloured ones today. the black one is soo beautiful. i am seriously considering saving up for one..it's timeless

the almond is drool-worthy!!!
i wish i could wear the stam, but i'll have to be satisfied with the baby stam.

I liked the high(python)/low(coated canvas) look alot but I am not in the market for another stam. I have the blush patent and the icy black baby stam and that's it for me. It's always interesting to see what "they" think of next!

Antigone - how much are these? I mean can you buy one real bag instead of 4-5 fakes? It is a better investment for your money?

^ very good point. Of all my bags the stam is prabably in my top 2-3 favorite, it's really worth it to maybe pass on a few replicas and get a real one.
