For S/S 06, there were several types of lining for Stams: Black & Ivory have beige suede, Putty has blue suede, Blush/Chalk/Cola (patent leather) have cream canvas lining. For F/W 06, the Stams are lined with cream canvas lining. For Resort 06, Stams have dark brown canvas lining (plus no name plates).

These are the colors that are pulled up for QUILTED STAM:
Fall/Winter 05 Stams: Black, Pearl, Violet, Bordeaux, Petrol, Taupe

Resort 05 Stams: Black, White

Spring/Summer 06 Stams: Black, Ivory, Putty, Blush (patent), Chalk (patent), Cola (patent)

Fall/Winter 06 Stams: Black, Bronze, Camel, Ivory, Cashew, Mouse, Chesnut, Whiskey

Resort 06 Stams: Black, White Chiffon, Topaz, Almond, Saddle Brown

Spring/Summer 07 Stams: Black, Ivory, Brown, Green, Blue, Natural

The year can be confusing at times, there are 3 releases every year: Spring/Summer, Fall/Winter, and Resort (also known as Cruise). Spring/Summer collection (starting to hit stores in January) is released first, followed by Fall/Winter (starting in June) collection. The last collection is Resort (starting in September) which is a transition period from F/W into S/S.

MJ stores are still receiving items from the very last delivery of Resort 06 collection. Plus, they are expected to receive the 1st delivery of S/S 07 bags from now until February 16th.

The style number on the original MJ paper tag shows the exact release year/season of all MJ bags (2004 & after).

C --> C for Collections (Marc Jacobs), M for Marc (Marc by Marc Jacobs)
3 --> 3 for Bags
Y --> YEAR (last number in 200x)
S --> SEASON (1-Spring, 2-Fall, 3-Resort)
x --> STYLE NUMBER (unique) - last 3 numbers
x --> ^^ style number is the same for items in different colors
x --> ^^

Resort 06 Stams: Black, White Chiffon, Topaz, Almond, Saddle Brown

According to my SAs from various MJ boutiques, their best selling colors are Black and White Chiffon, followed by Almond. Topaz is doing ok, stores think that the color is harder to match. Saddle Brown is not doing well.

So I've kind of been lurking the thread, because I've never had anything to say, but...

I saw one in person for the first time this week. A lady came into my work and when she put her bag on the counter I almost died. a Stam! it was dark brown...gorgeous! of course I told her it was lovely!
And earlier today I saw a girl with another MJ bag that was almond, I think.
Gorgeous. I've decided I need one!

Don't be confused, yours is from F/W 2006. =)
The numbers on inner tag (inside the pocket) is different from the style number printed on the original MJ paper tag (comes with each bag). Style Number (always starts with C3YS for bags released in 2004 and after) contains the date code, it is the only consistent detail that gives the year/season of the bag. Without that, we have to look at the seasonal differences to determine its date/season.

It was thought that those numbers inside pockets refer to the year/season of the bag (F05 610 meaning Fall 05), however, they are not true for many cases. Here are some examples showing some that match up and those that don't match up.

1) F/W 05's Icy Stam has style number C352065, inner tag says F05 610.
2) S/S 06's Putty Stam has style number C361126, inner tag says R05 197. That season's Ivory Stam also has R05 197 on its inner tag, I haven't checked Black Stam.
3) F/W 06's Bronze Stam has style number C362020, inner tag says S06 197.
4) F/W 06's Mouse Little Stam has style number C362114 (from official site), inner tag says SP06 197.

Marc by Marc Jacobs bags follow the same convention. The only difference is the style number's first letter, it is M (for MARC) instead of C (for Collections).

F/W 06's Hudson and Blondie were big hits, they sold out at Marc Jacobs boutiques. They are back by popular demand for S/S 2007; these styles were not planned for S/S 2007, they weren't listed in Marc Jacobs Collections Bags S/S 2007 Look Book.

The Blue is lovely Elegantly Wasted

Though it's no Petrol Maybe it would be adorbale in the Little Stam version? I'm pondering that or a black (little or regular) to go with my putty too (or a patent Chanel 2.55 reissue).
