Marni F/W 13.14 Milan

wow, was there even one outfit that did not have an element of fur on it?

Overkill with the fur, it doesnt suit Marni. Marni is usually weird in a cute quirky way, but this weird in a bad ugly way lol. The fur skirt and the fur boots were just hideous.

Was there a memo sent out about fur for the Milan designers? Almost every major label is doing it, even the ones who generally shy away from it.

Some of the fur pieces are just silly. The long shaggy fur on the chest area reminds me of chest hair. I actually like the fur stoles, though.

The prints I really like. This collection would've been perfect if some restraint was shown with the furs.

I really like this collection actually, it feels streamlined which is nice for marni while also looking luxurious and chic. Also I like how the fur has been designed in not the most obvious way, such as the lovely coat on julia.

I think fur adds a sort of strange heaviness.. and I don't mean just in weight, I mean a sort of darkness that, though I know Marni use it all the time, I just don't associate with the Marni girl.
It's clever, and unmistakeably Marni, with what appear to be pleated skirts that open to reveal chiffon inserts, and the fur scarves appearing to be made of an extremely long fox, then tucked into the waistband, and the way the fur suggests a very rounded shoulder towards the end.
It's a darker Marni, certainly.

It's quite boxy to me, I love the coat it's stunning and great tailor.

It's a "what the.....?" moment for Marni...the fur is awkward, the cut, designs and shapes show how inept she is at managing them. Her strength lies in zany mixing, collage, colors and prints, and this collection lacks them, exposing her weaknesses.

Many of the Marni quirks are still there, but as a whole the collection lacks the usual charm and whimsy I've come to associate with the brand. I'm tired of seeing everyone's version of parred down minimalism.

I like some of the pieces, the black and white prints, that one printed navy peacoat, but it's just overkill with the fur again (in this collection and in so many of the collections this fall).

to me it feels more like a prada/miu miu collection than a marni collection. seriously the fur? egads, they could have done with some editing....dial it back. and that really heavy, stiff silhouette.....that's not marni. where's her usual volume? the prints, albeit lovely, feels much too literal. marni is better at the more geometric, pop art-style graphics. last but not least, outside the overusage of fur, they've completely abandoned marni's signature sense of textile.

The could have easily become overkill but I think they used it really well!

Ahh, it reminds me of my favorite Marni collection, years later, more grown up and polished, but retaining a bit of that eccentricity still.. so I love this. now shoot. :ninja:

I don't understand the fuss about using fur, Marni was a traditional family fur house anyway when Castiglioni took over (actually her husband's family house).

A bit of a different take on the Marni girl aesthetics, a "darker Marni" as was successfully said earlier, but very much much "in the moment", well constructed, and very sexy-winter appropriate, with just the right amount of flesh disclosure.
