Mary Katrantzou F/W 13.14 London

This just goes to show that she is not a 'designer'.....she can do quite good prints, but this is not good....

exactly, it's quite obvious her prints are more important to her than the design of the clothes. resulting in weird shapes to show off her prints best.

on top of that i think her prints are vile, overworked like what those photoshop 'artists' on deviantart produce en masse. everything looks impressive when you spend a lot of hours on it, but that doesn't mean it's good.

Well, she gets an A+ for effort... some of these shapes are atrocious. Kinda underwhelmed, but it's better than a lot I've seen so far.

It's always a pleasure to see Mary's collections. She really is the print master. The muted color scheme is really different for her and I like it. I agree some of the shapes are bizarre but I would rather see a designer experiment and maybe be a bit off than to see so many play it safe down the runway.

Beautiful prints.. wow! Such mystery and whilst viewing them one almost feels a story being told.

i have to disagree here. i actually think this is a big step up in terms of silhouette evolution. for me it was becoming overly redundant and beginning to look like she was simply a one-trick pony who only knew how to do one kind of look....that armour thing. but this is exceptionally refreshing to me. very much inspired by japanese costume and i even see hints of celestial spheres in this as well.

this here is exactly what i am talking about-

i mean even the print work is a major evolution for her. i love those shadowy landscapes.
