The label's theme was the Shino Chawan teacups dating from Japan's Azuchi-Momoyama Era (1568-1600), a time known for its flamboyant designs and artistic accomplishments.

The label used fabrics that appeared to have the texture of the glazes and cracks of white pottery. With such creations as a coat produced with iron brushwork techniques, each item in the collection quietly carried its own punch.

just wanted to say.. when i first saw this, instead of glazework, i actually thought the dye effects look like fur placed on fabric.. interesting
thanks for bringing in pictures and description, runner

i can't be the only one who sees dries when they look at this...
...

it's absolutely lovely...
the grey dress in the first post caught my eye....
along with the necklace shown with it..

runner- do you know if the jewelry is theirs or borrowed from another designer...?
it reminds me very much of lisa levine...

Lovely, is all I can say, and double karma thanks, Runner.

Matohu is a Japanese concept. It has two meanings:

The first meaning is to wear clothes in such a way that it creates an atmosphere of beauty, like the motion of wrapping your body softly, and leaving a gentle afterglow.

The second gives the sense of restraint, allowing oneself to mature, like a fruit, slowly, and not to consume something hastily and throw it away.

thanks for posting, runner!. :woot:
I've been looking forward to see this and LyricisM..
..it's beautiful, though I still miss a little bit their light and more minimalist aesthetic, but one could never reject those prints.. they're absolutely beautiful :crush:

^second that. The colour palette is just enchantingly beautiful...I love that draped neck shirt and the full skirt outfit and the burnt kimono coat...can't wait to see more of it

you're welcome SomethingElse, Mullet

softgrey, I don't know
I'll ask them about that next month.
lisa levine looks quite nice btw.

you're not, i got that vibe straight off  gorgeous collection, the colors and the concept are lovely. i'm loving the blue on those (leggings?pants?) under the dress as well as the beige look on the first post. this is the first time i see their work, thanks for posting runner! would love to see some of their past collections, as well as the rest of this one

I wish it weren't so heavy, but it is quite sweet and comfy looking. I esp. love the fabrics used here and the color palette.

Thank you, Runner. :flower:

we do have other threads on previous seasons if you care to do a search...
:flower:

*runner- i have noticed that lisa levine is carried by mahnamahna...
so it is possible i think that this could be a collaboration...
or maybe it is just a similar influence..
either way..i like it very much...as i like lisa levine...
she is based in brooklyn btw...

i love it love it! i remember seeing their collection from a few seasons ago and loving that as well . . . those jackets!!! i wish they were available in the us . . . :(

Divine video - I love the presentation especially because I can really see the work. Thanks a million, MP! I also like the tinkling glass music. B)

don't know about its wear-ability, but I love the whole show presentation.

wearability?

i think it's one of the most wearable collections they've done...
apart from some of the colour choices which seem to be best for redheads-which is how they showed them...lovely, but rather limited in terms of who can wear them...

still...it was very lovely and the knits are really growing on me...
once again- i also like the jewelry...there is a long necklace and a belt with hanging chains which look very cool...

the whole thing just seems really relaxed and comfortable...
i quite like it this season....
a bit less drama than other seasons perhaps...but i think it's right for spring/summer to be a bit softer...

:p

wow...this is amazingly beautiful..
i love the ethnic feel mixed with the japanese aesthetic..gorgeous..
