LIMI feu F/W 07.08 Tokyo

It's also the case that most of the designers showing during Tokyo Fashion Week are almost exclusively aiming at their domestic markets, thus you will hardly find any sizes that would correspond to what is normally being sold in, say, Europe or the US. To eventually show in Europe means that you broaden your customer base to a bigger variety of people.

It's simply a practical reason that few international buyers can afford coming to Tokyo to see a few shows and showrooms, after having spend most of their time in Milan and Paris. After all, Tokyo's not just a short distance flight for most people, and it's of course very expensive.

I understand that, but from it's pretty expensive and a long flight to New York from Europe too. And besides, NYC does not produce anything groundbreaking... it does sell though. I know that Tokyo fashion week is not very "consumer friendly" at least if compared to NYC or Milan. I realise my idea is a little bit idealistic.

To eventually show in Europe means that you broaden your customer base to a bigger variety of people.

If Tokyo fashion week would be as popular as Milan or London, this would not be a problem, and they would not have to leave Tokyo for Paris so Europeans and Americans can get their own sizes. Big European and American brands do well in Asia although they are not presented there. They have the resources to do that, to make different sizing for the Asian market.

It is sad that money governs all. I am sick of Europe or the United States being the centre of fashion, as almost all originality and beauty has been lost. Once again, it seems to be the Western world that is ruling all others.

please stay on topic in this thread...
*maybe you want to start a thread about the pros and cons of that subject white linen....

this is a great collection imo...
reminds me of the first limi collection i ever saw---
i remember i almost fell over when runner started posting those pics and i am lucky to have some truly wonderful pieces from that collection..
*it's still on of the best collections she has done imo...

but i really like this...
it's simple and 'cool' without being boring or strange...
it's an effortless cool...
and it's really mature...
and elegant...

have to take a closer look now...but i am really happy to see this from limi...

thanks to runner and deeth for the images...

** i also notice that she has veered away from her usually all asian casting...must be a nod towards things to come...

LIMI FEU
Cerebral

Limi Yamamoto, daughter of dark, deconstructed fashion pioneer Yohji, has been presenting her collections in Tokyo -- but not as part of Japan Fashion Week -- under the Limi Feu moniker since 2000. Her aesthetic is similar to that of her father: conceptual clothing for cerebral women, with plenty of generously proportioned tailoring in a dour color palette of black, white and navy.

Up until this season, Limi always chose to use almost exclusively Japanese models. For this outing, though, half her cast was non-Japanese. That sea change heralded a big shift for the brand -- from October, it will be presenting its runway shows in Paris.

According to Limi, creating clothes for European bodies was at first daunting. "I feared that my designs might only be suitable for Japanese women -- that Europeans might not suit them or appreciate them -- but by doing this collection I realized that was just a barrier I was making for myself, and my work appeals to women everywhere."

mmhmmm..yup...just as i thought...

thanks for that runner...:flower:

you're welcome softgrey
apparently she tried to incorporate some good/beautiful points Japanese clothing/kimono has (like some kind of linear beauty) to Western clothes in this collection.

the sad thing with this move is that they have to stop "trace" line because they have lots of things to absorb right now.
but it was out of the question to enter F3 when you wanted to challenge Schumacher.
she would go anywhere Yohji is.
but they are planning to do the runway show again in Tokyo after Paris. for her fans as before.

i think runner was talking about schumacher F1? thus the F3...

yes cekla
sorry softgrey, melt

there were a few male models walking on the last trace show.
it's just she put trace (as womens) on them.
but maybe it's a sign.
there were a few non-asian models on the S/S 07 runway already, while she used to say she would use only asian models if she didn't have non asian markets in view.
and that's when the project started.

thanks for the images and the news, runner. :flower:
I really love this collection.
I do hope this means she will become more widely available....I have gotten lucky with a couple of chance finds and it's lovely stuff.

I wish....it was at a japanese consignment store, Tokyo 7, and it was ages ago. I didn't even know who she was at the time. :P

Love that pic of the models, runner!!!

the upcoming show in Paris is a pretty big deal...a lot of big names here will be going to paris to support her... very sad that she is leaving, but am looking forward to her continued success!
