Tokyo Collection S/ S 05

i had NO idea where to post this, but i wanted to let TFSers know that the japanese magazine "high fashion" is now being printed with many of its articles translated into english for those who like to read japanese magazines (but dont know whats going on!). its not street, since it focuses on western fashion houses, but its definitely coming from an all japanese point of view and they focus heavily on the japanese designers at home and abroad, with a lot of interviews. this month they did a nice spread on the new commes des garcons collection including half the mag which focuses on all things beautifully "white". there is also a really interesting section in the back that has press from all over asia's opinions on the f/w 05 collections.

i found it an interesting read :flower:

misahoi...we have a whole section just for magazines now...
it's a subforum of creative team...i think this really deserves it'w own thread in that forum...it will get lost in here...
 :flower:

and really...all the tokyo designers deserve their own threads as well...
not just one thread for everything from tokyo...

we need to start making separate threads for each designer guys...
thanks....:flower:...

They also mention that Masaki Matsushima is also becoming one of their favorites after an impressive collection in Paris. If anyone could post, that would be W-O-N-D-E-R-F-U-L! :flower:

BTW - JC Report has some decent (I won't say excellent) articles that are good for introducting new designers, so they have a free mailing list you can join, quite good)

They are talking about his old collection of S/S 05 or A/W 04-05 that being a very old issue of JC report from november of last year.

Softie--julius definitely needs its own thread
There is such amazing stuff in this thread
toga s/s 03 also needs its own thread--my favorite toga collection by far

^definately! I can barely find any information on Julius - all so far comes from Runner (And thankyou for introducing us to so many different labels :flower:)

woah...thanks for directing me here runner...

you're obviously the guy to ask this question too...

Julius, Ossa Monda, Roen, ripvanwinkle, viridi-anne, kiminori morishita, iroquois, G.V.G.V, attachment are all mainly or only sold in Japan...

Is there any underlining reason to why they aren't stocked in the US as well as the U.K and europe...or is it simply due to them being relatively unknown...

you're welcome Arturo, jhaime

viridi-anne may be available at : http://www.ateliernewyork.com/ , if I remember correctly.
faust should know that.

part of the goodness of all those labels is relatively reasonable prices.
maybe, they would get steep, because of duty/customs thing etc, just as they leave Japan.

I'd be surprised if import duties were the sole reason to why they're not carried anywhere outside japan...however it obviously is a fundamental reason.

Although Michiko Koshino (yen jeans) orange label has become very popular throughout the U.K. and it's origins are japan...One thing I have noticed though is the difference in pricing. I saw some of their red label tee's on rakuten at http://www.rakuten.co.jp/hinoya/119713/ and they are a good £20 cheaper than the orange label.

However the orange label jeans are more expensive in japan than they are in the U.K...

So i'm not so sure that the Import duties would have to much of an effect on pricing issues...as Julius, kiminori and ruen all look far better quality that Michiko Koshino...

For anyone who is interested, here's an online shop who carry the virirdi-anne/sembl, discovered/factotum & lounge lizard.

http://www013.upp.so-net.ne.jp/stirwise/

here's what you can expect...
