while still not among my favorites, i did honestly get that giddy "fashion butterflies" feeling when taking in this collection which says a lot considering in years past i've felt matthew williamson much of a one trick pony. however, ever since pre-fall 2010, i've noticed something more luxurious, more focused, and more uptown in his work. it's also dovetailed nicely with something of a great marketing/public relations effort with collections for h+m and appearances on the popular television shows, red carpet celebrities, et al.
with respect to this collection specifically, i love how the spirit of matthew williamson is so in tact, but once again, there's a greater range of offerings that might find a home outside of some big city boite. many of these clothes could go to work, to brunch, to a child's recital, to prime minister's questions. kudos to him for expanding his vocabulary without losing himself in the process.
