Maxi Skirts

Theyll come back in style eventually Im sure. When I was in jr high they were HUGE and my mom wouldnt let me wear one lol. All the other trends have come back except that one; it seems inevitable especially w/ maxi dresses being hot right now.

^ why wouldn't your mom let you wear them? I remember the typical 90s version of the maxi skirt and I'm not much of a fan. I haven't seen an enticing interpretation of that body-conscious look, with the side slit you know? however the well-tailored ones, utilizing more fabric and clever draping as has been done as Comme des Garcons for ages, those are so sumptuous and elegant. they look great with blazers.

oh man. i'm in the mood for the classic belgian look right now (even though it's seasonally inappropriate with summer coming up) so basically moody, expensive, black. A maxi skirt in a fluid fabric is just what I need. (I need a return to romance in my life.. if not with men, then at least with clothes!) But 'maxi skirt' also brings up appalling memories of cheap chainstore peasant looks and filthy hippies. It's something you want to tread carefully with.

I love maxi skirts when it's tight fitting like a bodycon dress. It looks great with flowy tops and with tanktops over it or with long blazers.

I´v become obsessed with long skirts or dresses.. and I agree, they should be body-hugging but not over the top... looks amazing with a pair of biker boots and a jacket

love this look for example:

I like Maxi Skirts when they're classics. Long and Black with some embellishment. Like this outfit from Karlas Closet:

I'm just not into the whole hippie skirt thing:ermm:.

I am a fan of maxi dresses, so I can appreciate maxi skirts. For one thing (and no disrespect), these are not denim minis. I tend to find maxi dresses spectacular because of that head-to-toe elegance they can provide. Can maxi skirts catch on? I'm not sure, but I think these skirts should be plenty fun and stylish to wear. With Fall/Autumn coming around, I'd imagine these to be quite wearable with some boots or some pumps.

Always have, always will.
Damn hard to find good ones, though.

Seahorse, the pink Zara one is lovely!
Love her shoes and bag too.

I wore them quite a bit in my early teens, although those available at the time seemed pretty half hearted and frumpy. Never been a fan of gathered waists for maxi's. Although I wouldn't wear them now (too fond of knee length and short), I do love the new silhouette.

I LOVE Maxi Skirts!!!! Got a pair the other day, its big floral light blue/grey colours, very loose, slightly tiered... looks gorgeous simple jewelery, gladiator sandals and a really fitted, even cropped white tank. Might post photos?

im loving this skirt too. but i had always liked some long fluid skirts. but lately it is more about slim skirts, which i lack. need to look for some asap

therawpower i'm 5'4" and i think i can pull of maxi skirt :p and i get approval from other people as well lol
the olsen is not tall and they look good in long skirt
i think it's not about the height, it's about learning your proportion and choosing the right one for you, the right shape, the right length where it ended etc

I don't have a maxi skirt, but I recently unearthed a vintage maxi dress from my mum's wardrobe and I finally plucked up the courage to wear it out yesterday (I'm very small, about 5'3", so I've always felt that a maxi would swamp me) and I got loads of compliments. I feel like I've been converted to the maxi dress/skirt trend and I am hoping to add a maxi skirt or two to my wardrobe in the near future.
So, YES, therawpower, you can pull it off! I'm shorter than you and I can pull it off. You just need to get the right fit for your body shape. :)

Maxi skirts are adorable! But maxi skirt + high waist = pure perfection! I feel like a skyscraper :D

to all the shorties: maxi skirts + high waists (a la bonbonenata) are perfection!

i LOVE long skirts. they sure beat all the butt-grazing minis that are out there.
