I think Hanaa Ben Abdessiem will be making a major debut on the list soon, since she just landed a Lancome contract.

^^At the moment is the key phrase here, models.com takes past work heavily into consideration, which is why girls like Miranda Kerr and Jamie Bochert are still on the list. Jac has already proved herself, that's why she's in the top 10. Liran Yana suggested Daphne should move up to the top 5, she's got a very long way to go before then. Daphne and Jac are only 11 months apart in age but Jac started a few seasons ago so Daphne is still behind. When Jac debuted, her achievements eclipsed Daphne's. That's all I'm trying to say, I like both girls but it's too early to compare them. Jac is in her fourth season as a model. There's no of predicting if Daphne will even be working in another 2 seasons. We can only look at what we have, and at the moment Jac is still on top. Whether she is in decline or not is debatable, Stam and Lily were in decline for a year and a half before they were taken off the models.com list because their past body of work is so immense.

It's not that hard to be "hotter" when you're still new (and yet when it comes to fresh faces Daphne is totally eclipsed by Arizona), it's actually difficult to kept the interest of the clients once you lost the allure of a newcomer. Jac is already capitalizing on her success (YSL fragrance, Chanel beauty contract, Gap) and she's still in demand within the high fashion clients (Dolce & Gabbana campaign). Not to mention Monika, with her classic beaty & great body, has more chances to achieve longevity as a model than weird-looking Daphne.

the whole Jac vs Daphne thing...ehhh they are both very accomplished, but like people have said Daphne has not gotten an OG campaign.

&& to say that she will be in the top 10 soon...I don't see it. Where's Toni Garrn?

By age 17 she had a VI cover, Calvin Klein, CK Jeans, Jill Stuart, Chloe, Hugo Boss, Prada, Emporio Armani, Fendi, Etro, Versace Perfume, Shiseido beauty contract, Donna Karan, Prada fragrance, Dior Eyewear, Numero covers, Vogue Russia and Germany covers.

yet...she never made the top 10 and already got removed from the list...and her classic beauty is something that has more longevity than Daphne's

As much as I like Daphne, I see her having the same fate as Tanya D. and to me she did not start any "baby alien" trend....There is no baby alien trend haha

I agree with the last part. I'm svcared of Liran Yana's reaction though so I'm glad you pointed out that threr is no such trend and I hope there will never be a trend that is called "baby alien"...I mean come on...:ninja:

Toni is a perfect example of how the most promisin starts do not necessary justify getting ranked high so early. This is why I'm unsure about Joan and all moving to the top 5 already but there are no other established models who deserve to be higher except the ones that had to be removed by now simply because only the number 1 changed. Stam and Lily have been there since Daria being number one I think.

By the way, Toni's peak position was 11. Nobody knows if she will have a "comeback" as she has never been gone entirely. And Toni has beeen in French Vogue before she even booked a one year Calvin Klein exclusive contract. A thing that has not happened in years with Calvin Klein at that time, it was always Natalia opening and/or closing the show before. One could say she paved the way...:o

I didn't say Daphne should be Top 5 but in Top 10
Of course at the moment Daphne is very in demand and there is no question she is getting more magazine, covers, eds, campaigns, opening shows at the moment than those Jac. Miesel along with Saskia is digging her

It's unfair to say Daphne will not make it because her look is not classic and when she gets older her look will change ? wasn't that what people said about Sasha before ? she was just an ugly version of gemma, a clone but who turned out to outlast Gemma .

I think runway doesn't count when it comes to MDC ranking and it's too early to say Meisel really likes Daphne (look at Arizona & Saskia - they both scored the cover the very first time he shot them for VI). Daphne is definitely a favourite of Mert & Marcus, though.

IMO the whole industry is too fickle to rearrange the ranking completely every couple of months.

^

I agree its very fickle anything can happen so Daphne can climb way high
hopefully the biggest prize longevity will be there.

I think catwalk shows count look at Eniko she flopped down even with many eds

Anna J. stopped doing runway after F/W 2009 and she's still in top 10, so I don't think it's a deciding factor

Weird, unconventional beauty don't last that long. Tanya & Meghan are the perfect examples. But when these unconventional models reach their peak, they peak... bigtime! I mean they are the most wanted/booked/hyped models there is then suddenly vanish into oblivion.

I agree. Most girls only do runway so they can book editorials, which lead to campaign bookings. If a girl can book eds and campaigns without doing runway then that's all the more reason she should be in the top ten.

Hey, people let's remember that Karlie was pretty big even before Galliano got her for both his line and Dior, I'm sure she'll do fine without him. Who's to say that the house of Dior won't keep Karlie?!?, they most likely will...

^I think someone reliable mentioned it in F/W 2011 campaign thread that Karlie won't repeat Dior... But she's established and she will be fine with or without Dior.

Yeah, but you don't ever know, maybe she'll still get other Dior campaign...hopefully...

Maybe that she scored the Prada campaigns one by one, idk how many times in a row?

I think she means that with or without Dior, Karlie will still be on the top? I mean, I remember people saying that Sasha's modeling career will end when Miucca stopped using her for campaigns.

Oh, okay, that makes sense. Yeah, this honeslty will not finish Karlie's career.

yes, sasha has got a strong CV by Prada. Karlie will follow Sasha's step, thanks to Dior.
