To be honest I think it is in Karl Lagerfeld's best interest (for Chanel) to change the face of the label. The Chanel ad campaign needs a fresh face.. bring Freja back in a season or two if need be, but speaking for myself I just feel so disinterested in all Chanel's recent campaigns because there isn't enough of a progression or change from season to season, in terms of the ads and aesthetic.
Freja always has the same hair and similar make-up. Fashion is constantly changing and Chanel also needs to reflect that. Holding on to the same model for years is not the way to go about it. With that said, should Lagerfeld choose to hire a new face for the campaign, I'm not sure about Freja's chances of achieving the number one spot on models.com, when Lara is eventually moved to the 'icons/legends'.

support from karl for freja: unchecked.

one less reason for freja to be number one.

I think Saskia for Chanel would be the worst campaign in the history of the world to ever occur. Seriously.

ohh guys easy on liranyana! she was just saying all the good things she ''thinks" freja has,no need to make fun of it! at least not everyone at the same time!

i highly doubt freja missing a chanel campaign or two will affect or be damaging to her career. she has tons of other major clients and support for her to stay in the top 3 at least for a while.

i will say that some of you guys are a little too harsh and/or sensitive when it comes to who will be no. 1/other members' favorite models. whatever happened to a fun, light-hearted debate?!

Oh I hope Freja doesn't front another Chanel campaign. All of Chanel's recent campaigns have been so punishably boring it isn't true.

I know Karl digs Saskia, but I haven't been utterly impressed with Saskia's print work till now. Besides, Chanel needs a new photographer (M&M, for instance) and a model that's NOT Freja or Saskia or Stella.

i want daria back for chanel.

i love the fact that the race to number 1 is wide open now, and any girl in the top 5 could take over lara's spot. just one stellar season, a lucky girl will descend on top of the fashion world.

So Freja is out of the running to be the next #1 model now. () Who do you guys think it will be?

I know runway doesn't count for much in the rankings but what about Karlie? She's been opening and closing a lot of major shows and she's already shot the Spring 2012 Jean Paul Gaultier campaign, does anyone think she'll move up?

^ Everyone who walked at JPG shot for the campaign. We won't know who scored the campaign until it is released.

I agree about Karlie. I thought she was going to slow down some seasons ago but she definitely proved me wrong. She's still everywhere. The only thing she lacks is the support of Vogue Paris and iirc she doesn't have a fragrance contract yet. But she's a regular in all major magazines, has blue chip campaigns every season and most of all she has mass appeal because she's a classic beauty and you only hear good things about her (that she's sweet, great work ethics, etc.). I could absolutely see her becoming No.1 in the ranking someday. Maybe not right after Lara (depending on how long Lara will keep the spot) but in 1 or 2 years or so.

I think if Freja snags up some other blue chip campaigns this season it could actually be a good thing for her career. She's being associated with Chanel way too closely and at the moment it seems like her career depends almost entirely on Karl Lagerfeld. If she has another stellar campaign season and she can prove that she is the top girl of the moment then it might actually make her more eligible for the Number 1 spot.

Sorry, my mistake. I read in the F/W campaign thread that the Jean Paul Gaultier twitter named 4 models who shot the campaign (Karlie was one) and I assumed that it was confirmed as those girls being in the campaign.

I go back & forth with Karlie all the time. Sometimes I think she is destined to be an icon, and sometimes I think she is going to become like Coco Rocha. She's going to have to find something other than Dior, ODLR, & Donna Karan to stay relevant in the next few years. If she can do that, then she will an icon.
