I agree with Raquel, Mariacarla, and Jessica being moved to icon status. We can make room for more new girls, and a few of the girls on the icon list don't really deserve to be there.

I think Mariacarla should definitely move to the icon list, and Raquel probably should, although I think she's still working WAY too much to be moved from 1st place. It's not devaluing her as a model in any way to want her to stay in the normal list; it just seems kind of ridiculous to let Lara, Natasha, Sasha take her place when she's doing more modeling hours than any of them.

And no way should Stam be moved up. She's actually working less than she did in her heyday, and Natasha, Anna J, Sasha, Lara, and Freja all do more work than she does.

It's been said before, but why is Cat McNeill still in the top 10? As much as I love her, she's hardly bringing in the same amount of work she used to. I think Models.com needs to be more ruthless - once they put a girl in the top 10 they're always insanely reluctant to move her down. I think Ymre, if she doesn't get anything this season, will be a real test of their reliability. If that's the case they HAVE to move her down or even dare I say it off the list unfortunately. For now anyway

To many models/the media.. being on models.com .. is quite an honour and actually to me it is an honour as well , because this is the only prominent models list I've seen the media mention .. :innocent:

My most memorable moment of fashion week was in NY. One day my agent called me and told me to look at Models.com. Opening the page, I found a photo that looked like me! And looking more attentively, I saw that the name in the caption was “LIU WEN”, which is listed in No. 44 of models’ top 50. Ha, it’s really me! Every girl has a beautiful dream, and mine this year was to join the top 50. Suddenly this dream was realized; what a happy surprise! The only problem was that nobody was there my apartment to share that moment with me but I screamed for a little while just to celebrate!”

aim high, Liu, aim way high.especially considering how biased and inaccurate this list can be.

Maybe we could start our own Top 50 or whatever list. I mean TFS is so well known and respected. It gets visits from all sphere of modeling (and non). Plus I feel like most people here (or at least a lot of people here) are pretty knowledgeable about models.

My only reservation would be that stans would go crazy. Freja would basically be #1 for eternity, etc. But if we can come up with a system, then maybe this could be a really cool idea.

^No matter how funny you think it is , it is still considered an honour to be in this list and .. yea :)

Haha, well tFS gets more views than models.com for sure. But who would make that Top ? Voting, I guess. But the poll system is very limited, accepts only like 20 entries, well we would make a Top 20, why not ?

This system wouldn't actually work. The only thing I see would be to people post a comment with their chosen model and then at the end of the month, count the votes and make the Top.

WerbowyStegner That means that there's a lot of people still don't get how that Top works. If her agent told her, you're on the Top 50 of models.com but the Top means nothing because it's super biased, I bet her reaction would be a lot different ;)

People would vote for their favorite models, and then again it would be just popularity, models.com took years to have the prestige they have, so I think it's unfair to say it doesn't mean anything.

^I'm not talking about the site itself by their Top. Yeah, I'm not really sure it would work here.

What if we had a committee or something of that sort. The more I think about it, the more I would love to do something like that lol.

It's a fun thing to do  Reason why many other sites do it/have done it. Yet most of them don't seem to last.

^We used to have it , the tFS top 75 or something..
Well the thing is models.com knows the industry insider info way before we know it.. so they have a greater advantage over us :l

I would love a TFS Top 50. We could even have a point system, just so we can be sure it's not biased. It would be really complicated, but we could do it!

Yeah, after viewing the thread Mr Dale created (The Fashion Spot Models Top 75) and worked hard in, I can see it was a very reliable system, obviously a lot more accurate than MDC. It would be nice to see that thread's system restarted, although it would take a lot of effort.

I never knew that Wayne Sterling from Models.com was the person behind the Imagist. Quite a good relationship going on between MDC and Women/Supreme :innocent:

If we are to make a top models list, i think some of the basic things to consider are:
Editorial Work
Runway Work
Campaign Work
Magazine Covers

Ofcourse, we need to decide what category is more important. I think Runway Work is the least important in terms of being on 'top', because some of the models who walk the most shows hardly even get any jobs outside of it.

Then there's some subjectives like longevity because we all know the longer you have been working in the business, the harder it is to book jobs, for the most part anyways.

Also, I think instead of monthly, the list should change seasonally.... which includes resort/cruise seasons.

IMO a "Top" list as voted by tFS members would be interesting but would not reflect how well a model is doing (neither does MDC's Top 70 though). Like ThiagoMello says, it would just be a tFS community popularity contest no matter how well you set the guidelines. There are some models with huge, more mainstream / fragrance / beauty campaigns that barely get a mention in these threads, yet there are some models who get 20 pages of posts if they are seen at one particular show!!
If we really want to know who really are the world's "Top" (meaning most successful) models, then a Forbes Top 50 would be the most appropriate - (although I think a lot of members here would cry if they saw that list )
