karlie i think in time will be #1 though not yet :). So im gunning for either LARA or natasha as no.1. Maybe even freja ?

^definitely not Freja.. i dont think shes versatile enough for the number 1 spot

^ Karlie's just started gaining momentum this season. or i should say a couple of
seasons ago, but she's still fairly a newcomer. whilst others have been around for
a longer time. she's got a few more years ahead before she earns that #1 title imo.

if they let her be,Freja is very versatile.3 years ago she was #4 and she's back to it again.she can go all the way but tough competition lies ahead.

^ i know... like lindsey wixson? The only significant thing i can remember her doing is opening prada. How long will that buzz last though if she cant back it up.

To be fair, opening Prada and closing Miu Miu and being the only girl in a Miu Miu campaign is something. I would say that looks like a more promising career than other models in lower ranks but 20 something is exaggerated.
I think complete newbies shouldn't get higher than 40 unless they booked Prada, Balenciaga and Chanel campaigns and shot covers for French and Italian Vogue. Patricia, Lisanne and Jacquelyn entered at a fair spot to me as I don't know what other projects they have coming out the next few months.

To me Lara is the new Number 1 since she gains so much monumentum lately. Why is Lily Donaldson moving up and when will models.com move Agyness and Caroline down as they did with Maryna and Snejana?

I think it should be Anja and Natasha at #1 and Sasha and Lara at #2.

I don't know where you have been but Snejana is already off the list and Lily is already down at 5.:lol:

^It says that Lily moved up on models.com, and Maryna and Snejana have moved down so fast when they slowed down working and that's why I think to Caroline and Agyness should be done the same if they use the same criteria for all models, maybe you get it now.

Just checked. It's strange as to how it says that Lily moved up when she in fact swapped places with Freja, from 4-5 and vice versa. I dunno but Agyness and Caroline are still getting campaigns and covers.

I agree with whoever's saying Sasha or Natasha should clinch the top spot. Lara's not quite in the same level as the both of them yet. Anja still needs a little more time and Freja is a stunning beauty and all but... well, not the top spot just yet for her IMO.

But whatever, I'm sure MDC will again surprise us with another model we don't expect to be in the top spot.

It's not really someone we don't expect. Lara and Natasha have been the girls considered for the Top Spot. Wayne even posted an argument for and against both girls and that was months and months ago already. ^_^

For lack of something good to say, pardonnez moi. I guess we'll have to wait then, won't we? I just hope it's Natasha over Lara.

This was posted way back May 20 09. Im reposting it to go check the argument again.

Raquel Zimmerman has ruled the No 1 spot at MDC for almost two years now, signaling that she is indeed that rare, rare paragon of longevity. Open US Vogue today and there she still is poised and inscrutable as ever...mystery and reputation perfectly intact. But the upcoming FW 09 campaign and editorial season seems to be telegraphing that a new wave of defining models are rising fast to own this moment. Two very different girls are sweeping in from opposite career directions to bid as the next girl destined for that No 1 slot . On the right, the immaculate Natasha Poly who has witnessed a career that started blue chip from day one, with bookings that have swept through all the classic landmarks of impending star status . On the left lurks that most unlikely of sensations, Ms Lara Stone, a girl who has managed to pull virtually every power client imaginable under her sway in the last two years ranging from a Vogue Italia cover to an All-Lara French Vogue issue, culminating in her current inclusion in the US Vogue club. Whose moment is it finally then? Both girls have their supporters and detractors...and this is the quick synopsis of the sentiments swirling around each girl.

ARGUMENTS FOR NATASHA
1. No model in recent times has had a more pristine booking trail. None. It is one that has never dipped, never seen an off season and Natasha has never failed to upgrade her client list. It started at Vogue Paris via the imagery of Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin gained recent sanction from the Meisel camp in US Vogue and has entailed repeat clients like Blumarine, Jil Sander and Gucci as well as brands such as CK Jeans, Balmain and Givenchy.
2. Runway history= FLAWLESS.
3. Given her consistency and utter professionalism chances are Natasha at No 1 will not be suspectible to sudden dips in her bookings. As a classic beauty presenting a perfect fashion frame chances are she stands to match the tradition of Raquel and Daria as true long distance runners.

ARGUMENTS AGAINST NATASHA
1. Where is that classic clincher...that makes a No 1 indisputable...that big money blue chip cosmetic brand contract that truly sets a girl in a whole different context? Does it bode well to wait for that to fall into place before pushing Ms Poly to that No 1 slot.
2. Natasha going to No 1 continues a tradition of a journeyman model with no public impact and no media heat rising to the top in the eyes of industry insiders but adding little excitement to the overall fashion industry.
3. In that vein, Natasha has had a lot of editorial presence recently but beyond the group US Vogue fold-out , little solo cover presence.

ARGUMENTS FOR LARA STONE.
1. Her ability to pull in and hold fashion's biggest punters in constant fascination is a sign of a star model. Carine Roitfeld's All Lara issue , Inez and Vinoodh's landmark editorials with her , the Givenchy,CK/Jeans and Calvin Klein Cosmetics bookings all converge to make Lara seem quite consistent and coveted.
2. Since July 2008 Lara Stone has had 7 covers (W July 2008 with Daria and Kate by Bruce Weber, V Magazine Sept 2008 with Inez and Vinoodh, The Journal with Juergen Teller, ID November 2008, Vogue Paris Feb 2009 with Inez and Vinoodh, Japanese Vogue April 2009, US Vogue May 2009 (group) .
3. Lara Stone the grown woman in a sea of teenagers with a woman's body and a woman's presence inadvertently has risen to be a kind of cultural force. She's sexy and gritty and real that promises to take the idea of modeling outside the limited confines the fashion industry even as she challenges and changes the ideal of what a model can be. Maybe that's the kind of ideal a bored fashion culture needs right now.

ARGUMENTS AGAINST LARA STONE
1. The campaign history, while respectable is not remarkable relative to even a Sasha (who seems to be resurging this season now that she's in the Chanel camp) .Every No One thus far has proven to be a repeat offender with multiple blue chip brands. Is Lara then more of a highly celebrated editorial sensation as opposed to a client-keeper.
2. Is there room left to rise in Lara Stone's career trajectory? Or is the current moment a peak that will see an inevitable fall? After the Calvin Klein Cosmetics visibility is there really room left for a cross-over to the Cover Girls/Maybellines/Estees for such a rock n roll figure as La Lara.? It may be argued that Natasha still has a very visible fragrance booking on her CV, proving her preferred status as a commercial commodity.
3. Lara's clear disenchantment with the runway circuit leads one to suspect that being in fashion is not life or death to her. But do you survive this business without that desire to be the best at your trade?

Regarding the bolded arguments here are my thoughts,

1. It already seems like a give away.

2. Natasha now has 22 Vogue Covers, Lara? 10,11,12? But I'll give Lara the credit of appearing in all the big 3 Vogue covers. Natasha still has to appear in a VI cover.

3. Same. That was an invalid argument as that time Natasha had more covers than Lara, From July 08-May 09 Natasha had 9.

Following the criteria of ranking which is mainly based on Covers, Campaigns, Contracts and Longevity, clearly we already know who the front-runner is.

I just noticed, most of the arguments against Raquel is similar with Natasha's.

ARGUMENTS AGAINST RAQUEL:
1. No standout, long term make-up contract or multi-million dollar client commitment as seen in the likes of former No 1's like Daria, Liya, Karolina, Gisele or Angela. In other words, a great seasonal fashion model but not a contract model.
2.Obvious money bookings for department store catalogues has kept Raquel's booking record from being nearly as immaculate as Sasha's who has been nothing but exclusive, exclusive, exclusive, her ENTIRE career
3.At least the current No 1, Gemma has made an effort at being a public figure in her forays into Hollywood, her Vanity Fair booking with George Clooney and her general air of mystery. Raquel it is argued would be the most "anoymous" model out of a generation of painfully anoymous models to hit No 1.

1. Beauty contract (Natasha) = Big contract (Raquel). Natasha has Gucci though, she has had a contract with Gucci since SS08 and she just renewed it this year.

2. Argument Number 2 for Natasha and Argument Number 3 for Raquel is the same.

ARGUMENTS FOR SASHA
1. Her run as THE face of Prada for two and a half years in a row is unprecedented . Given the power of Prada as a star making vehicle, this fact marks Sasha as a historic model on the level of the Angela Lindvalls and the Amber Valettas as long term faces of the house.
2.Sasha's booking record is crystal clear, ultra-blue chip and as immaculate as immaculate can be. There has never been a dip in the quality of her jobs, unlike the ambigious state of Raquel Zimmerman's career prior to the moment when she opened the FW 04 Prada show.
3. Sasha has a far better track history as a cover model, including four covers in Sept 07 (British, Japanese and Russian Vogue+Numero) alone, not to mention 3 recent covers of Italian Vogue and apparently, there are still even more cover level bookings in her cycle.

1. Look at Argument Number 1 for Natasha and Argument Number 2 for Sasha, the same.

2. Argument Number 3 for Sasha is applicable to Natasha. Natasha has more covers and more diverse.

actually raquel has two perfume contracts and a beauty contract with shiseido.Raquel is still number one because she still holds the strongest booking .
