its seriously time to get Kamila, Ranya, Rianne out of there....enough is enough
how thaa **** does Toni get dropped when she did more in the past 3 seasons than those 3 girls...ugh

Julia H can go and Ming & Ann should enter in her place

Sigrid should be in top 15 with her amazing campaign seasons

But anyways, that's my reasoning and I figure that's MDC's reasoning for not putting her at #1. If the list were just based off of who's got the most work right now, then Freja would clearly have to be #1. But MDC's list doesn't just work like that, it's about who has lasting power, and girls who have become icons in the industry. Kind of like last season, if it were just based on who's getting more, Hannah Holman or Nimue would be #1 but they obviously wouldn't deserve to be. I'm not saying Freja's going to be out the door in one season, obviously, but I don't know if she's going to be referenced years into the future as an icon as Kate, Gisele, Liya, Kristen, etc. are now. I am just guessing that's why she's not #1, what other reason would there be? She has almost everything else over Lara (in terms of strictly work, I'm not going to go into talent) she's getting more campaigns, walking more shows, she got more covers this year I think. Maybe I'm just biased towards Lara, but then again everyone has a bias.
From what I've always understood, contracts are heavily factored into the mix, which is why I believe Lara is number 1 over Freja. Freja does not have any exclusives, beauty contracts or perfume contracts and hasn't since 2007. Lara, on the other hand, has her exclusive with Calvin Klein this season, and is the new face of Prada Infusion d'Iris. I've seen her in beauty ads too, just can't remember the brands right now. Also, up until a year ago, Freja was pretty inconsistent in her work, while Lara was being touted as the face and body of a new era in modeling. I'd say all of those are pretty good reasons why Lara is #1 over Freja, since the ranking takes into consideration other factors besides a current snapshot of the scene. So it seems logical to me based on work, not based on what you think MDC thinks about the lasting power of a model.

That wasn't at all unnecessarily rude...

I'm glad to see Eliza and Emily on the list! I like Emily, so I'm happy about her. Don't like Eliza but she's deserved it for the work she's done.

As behansu mentioned, factors like contracts have much to say. I am not going to argue why Lara is at No. 1 because that is pretty obvious as she has made herself a hot commodity not matter what she appears in. What I do not agree is your statement about Freja. For two years now (at least since I started following), Freja has only been on the rise. As the rankings get closer and closer to number one, it only gets harder to go higher as placing above established girls with various campaigns means getting a both a bigger reputation and a bigger name. Ultimately, I believe MDC would not have any problems placing Freja as number one sometime in the future because they simply love girls that not only are models but personalities as well. I see Freja as number two as a proof of her versatility in the branch as it is many seasons now since she started out.

I have a decent amount of knowledge about fashion and models, but admittedly I don't know everything about all of the top models and my brain can't be trusted to retain and process the information that I have acquired... what I am getting at is based on my decent but imperfect recall when it comes to overall careers, Sasha, Natasha, Lara, Anja and Freja are comparable - actually I think that Sasha, Natasha and Anja may have more extensive resumes and Lara and Freja have the "it" thing but I have to research that some more. I can see why the inclination is not to have a lot of turnover in the top spots and particularly at the #1 spot, but I would compare this trivial matter to what happens when the long-time leader of a small country dies or is deposed and for a period of time there is a frequent change in government heads. Lara made sense to put in the top spot at the time that Raquel was moved to the icons list, but I am not so sure if Raquel was moved six months earlier or later that the same model would have been placed in the #1 spot. Normally work from the most recent season or two should not affect the top ranks that much, but given that many of the models in the MDC Top 5 have similar "career scorecards*," current stuff matters more than it typically does, so I don't have a problem with a (made up) scenario like Lara being #1 for a few months, then Freja, then back to Lara, then Anja and so forth.

* Those of you with a deep knowledge of fashion and models, feel free to challenge or correct me on this front.

emily didonato shares the 24th spot with eliza cummings...
i don't follow either of their careers but emily is brand new isn't she? she did walk for vuitton and scored a numero cover but eliza has vogue italia, w, balenciaga, i-d etc behind her.

Emily D - Acqua di Gioia, Maybelline NY contracts plus a bunch of ck stuff and Numero cover

IMO Eliza is just lucky that a single big name photographer likes her

their lists cant even be reliable when they fail to update all models' work
Magdalena's French Vogue ed is in Maryna's profile and her German Vogue and Twin Magazine ed have yet to be added

omg.....why is sophia ranked so high, seriously...this is getting annoying the only "blue chip" thing she has is marc jacobs daisy fragrance and thats probably the best campaign shes going to get...why add her when shes just going to be removed in a season, WHEN ARE THEY GOING TO RANK ANN they have ruby , sophie, and samantha.....not to mention ranya, kamilla, sesilee and chanel are still ranking...that for me just proves how irrelevant this list is...

Rasa no longer deserves to be 50 let alone 26 IMO. She seems to have got the least possible amount of return from her Prada campaign in which she was the only model yes, but her her face and head was so obscured they could have used any model
