MDC (Models.com) Rankings

After about 7 or 8 years of landing blue chip campaigns and covers, a model will enter the icons list, whether they are considered "iconic" or not is up to you. I personally don't fing Malgosia iconic, but I guess she deserves it.

Currently there is no list on the site of top earning commercial-only models. Some girls really only do catalog work and that sort of thing and I'm sure they're rolling in the dough, but we don't have a list for it.
I don't know if there needs to be an earnings based list, because that is what the Money Girls list is for, but I think that a list of the top commercial models, perhaps just a top ten would be cool. I can see models like Alyssa Miller, Arlenis Sosa, Lily Aldridge, Marloes Horst, Chrishell Stubbs and the like on that list.

Also, to add. With Raquel conquering the F/W 11.12 campaigns, Shiseido contract and Love, Chloe fragrance contract I wonder when she will move to the Money Girls list?
I don't know what to make of Raquel not being on the Money Girls list, she also does not appear on the Forbes list either, I don't know if that means that she and her agents play these things close to the vest when it comes to that information or if that is that the pay for high fashion gigs is not that much, relatively speaking of course.

Isabeli moved down on the icons list.

Ikr with isabeli -_-
Also WTF candice not been in the top 50? When other girls have been add it. O_o
Seriously everytime this list just get worse

i'm not even a big fan of Isabeli, but it's completely absurd that she's moved down on the Icons list. she's currently got more campaigns than nearly ANY other model on that list. she's having an incredible season with edits as well, not to mention her solo Vogue Paris cover. it's ridiculous. she should move UP, if anything.

Finally Paul Boche's on the list!
... and Lenz is back again.

It's bizarre that Soul Artist is not listed in the top-10 male agencies. There are a number of its models in the top-50 male list but where is the agency in the agency list?

How does MDC justify Jamie Bochert's ranking?? She hasn't had a campaign since S/S 10.

What happened to the Top 25 Sexiest? Is back to Top 20 again.. Where are you Luxx?!

MDC needs to make a list of for girls who were Hot in High fashion for like 25 minutes and move Alessandra, Jamie Bochert, Dree Hemingway, Ymre, Kirsi, Miranda and and Emily Didonato onto that list so that they can fight it out there.

Who do we think will be the first new girl to fall out of the rankings? I think Juliane Gruner is too high, she shouldn't be higher than Emily Baker just because she's Meisel's favourite right now. He'll drop her before long.

Also has Carola's big cosmetic campaign been revealed? Is it Smashbox cosmetics, because there's a lot of youtube videos featuring her in Smashbox make up tutorials.

i wonder who will take over lara's spot. im sure mdc will give lara about 2 years at the reign b4 moving her to the icon list.

right now, there are only 2 strong candidates for the top spot: anja and freja. as of this moment anja definitely has an edge over freja. freja was everywhere last year but she is losing momentum.

Are you kidding me? Anja may be getting more work, but some of it isn't exactly A-list. Campaigns like Kurt Geiger & Massimo Dutti probably pay well, but are not the most prestigous. Freja on the other hand only does blue chip work. After an amazing last season campaign sweep, it was impossible for her to top herself this season. I am not biased to either model, but judging strictly on the level of work, Freja kicks Anja's a$$.

actually anja also got balmain and fendi and she is the current face of cloe and elie sabb's fragrance. she just got an only ed on the sept issue of vogue us and appear in almost every issue of vogue paris for the last 6 months.

tell me if eds in vogue us and paris are not considered as A list?

^^yes, that work is A-list, but as a whole Freja has more exclusivity around her than Anja. I am not trying to discredit any of Anja's bluechip work, but she is known to take some B-list jobs every now & then, and the #1 model does not have to do that. The #1 model also has to define their look as a new trend, imo. Look at some of the past #1s- Gemma was the face of the angelic alien model, Lara is the face of all those gap-toothed blondes walking around today. Freja is defining a new generation of androgyny. What exactly does Anja define? She is a top model in her own right, but not #1.

so what did model like daria, raquel, giselle define in order for them to take over the top spot? your theory that a model has to define something in order to become the number one model is just plain silly. daria and raquel dont define anything in particular but they are damn good model. they scored tonnes of works which got their to the number one spot. sure if u got a distinctive look u'll get work in the short term, but in order to have the longevity in this industry u need both look and talent.

in the end, it's the amount of work that get a model to the number one spot. there's no deny that overall freja has more A-list works than anja in their career. but the ranking doesnt base on a model's works in their entire career, just their current works(within the last 12 months) that counts the most. so if anja get more print works as well as better campaigns then there's great chance she'll get the number one spot.....and vice versa.

im not a fan of either models so its no big deal whoever get to number one.

giselle = return of the sexy model. i thought that was jammed down our throats by Vogue no? Daria was/is a class act, Raquel is the epitome of longevity/versatility. I agree than Raquel does not define anything in particular.

Raquel, to me, defines the anonymous-yet-omnipresent-top-model era. lol. all these girls working non-stop, landing campaign after campaign and editorial after editorial and yet so entirely unknown by the general public. Raquel sorta represents the epitome of that. she has zero fame outside of the fashion world (perhaps it's a different story in Brazil, i'm not sure), yet she has one of the most elite portfolios of any model in the past 10 years.

who were the other number ones? Gisele -- introduced the Brazilian Invasion. and like Charlotte said, "return of the sexy model" (inspired folks to book Ale, Adriana, Fernanda, etc) who was after her? i think KK from 2002-2004. she led the way for the eastern european girls that flooded the catwalks and scored the campaigns in the years following (think Natalia, Hana, Eugenia, Natasha, Snejana, etc). then Gemma - ushered in the total baby doll look. Daria was the bohemian chic supermodel. very casual and laid-back. i don't know if she was particularly influential in signalling any new trends in models or fashion, but she was unarguably deserving of the number 1 spot. then Raquel and next was Lara. she brought boobs back. and, as was mentioned, the gap-toothed trend.

Anja is having a great year, a great 2 years even. but she doesn't deserve the number 1 spot, imo. i'd give it to Freja first - and i'm not even a fan. it's not just about her being an individual and being uniquely androgynous. she's just got the sort of exclusivity at the moment. i still don't think she's ready to take the place of Lara, though.
