Prince Harry and Ms. Meghan Markle have chosen to release this official portrait photograph to mark their engagement.
The photograph was taken by photographer Alexi Lubomirski earlier this week at Frogmore House, Windsor

Especially like the candid one! The cost does seem excessive ... and it's super formal and looks out of step with his suit. Don't the women in the family usually wear daywear for engagement portraits, like a knee-length or tea-length day dress? (I wonder how much the suit cost? I assume it's custom ... I guess they wear nothing but Savile Row!)

Completely agree. They both look gorgeous, and the photos are really sweet, but the gown is over the top. It's also a little weird that the bodice is sheer (not that you can see anything) in a royal engagement photo - they are usually so conservative. I appreciate that Meghan and Harry can do things a bit differently because he is not a future king, but it still seems a little tacky and unnecessary considering how beautiful the more casual photo came out.

I like the photos. It's great that they switched to Lubomirski for a more candid vibe.

Apparently Ralph and Russo said the dress was "purchased privately" and was not a loan. They haven't disclosed whether she bought it herself, though.

First of all, I really like the pics and their couple. I think they looks so happy and in love that is a pleasure to see !

I like her dress but IMO it's a little too dress up compare to what Harry wore.

I hope, once she will be married, she will continued to have this style and the same boring look like Kate

So Alexi, Testino's protege, shot these? Well, he certainly fits her brand.

She's off to a rocky start with that excessively priced dress. Already Duchess Catherine's 2017 wardrobe budget is being scrutinised and she's getting a lot of flak for it. I don't like the dress personally. It's too much, and the skirt part clash with the top.

I quite like the coat, and overall she looks very pretty. However, I saw a comment that said the hat looks like the top of an acorn and now I cannot un-see it

^haha thanks for putting that mage in my head. I think she looks fine here but the monochrome doesn't really working. But I love the previous look with slouchy boots though. Fashionable but not too edgy. The engagement dress is a little but much.
