Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex

What I love the most about both dresses is that they are simple, comfortable but it suits her perfectly and it feels like she is not trying to fit in but rather bringing herself in the royal family with her own heritage and identity. I think the Ralph Russo engagement dress was a misshap because it didn't seem to fit in her closet at all.

One could argue if it's badly constructed or not but I feel like it fits her perfectly with ample room to move and breath. It feels more special to her body than a simple fitted dress. (Re: Miranda Kerr's Dior gown) It definitely has that old hollywood glamour with Audrey Hepburn vibe which is understandable coming from Givenchy and herself as former actress. At the end of the day, the dress didn't upstage the bride. And that what counts the most.

I don't mind a simple dress but they could've used a different cut. This one drew the eyes to her midsection and she doesn't have definition there. She looked boxy it just wasn't the right cut or her. Maybe on a model, it would look great but as women, we need to know our bodies and as much as we admire something on others it may not look good on oneself.

^ No, the wedding dress was badly constructed and/or (at the very least) badly fitted.

It was, simultaneously, smarming her breasts down and cutting them in half (via the darts).

That simply isn't right.

I think the problem is in the way they cut the sleeves and the decolleté.
This is a very deep boat neck but the sleeves are cut the same way as they are in a normal neck. On top of that, you have long sleeves when, this type of neck works better with short sleeves or a strap (instead of a sleeve).

I'm suddenly thinking about Reese Witherspoon's Tom Ford dress at the Oscar which had the similar feel but was constructed perfectly because the sleeves and corasage were to the point.

I think that if she cut the sleeves while trying to emulate the raglan sleeves, it would have been better.
Or, she should have done a simpler neck like the one she did in her show.

Why can't a woman have a straight waist and look good?

I never said a woman with a straight waist cannot look good. Every woman is built differently you need to know your body and what works for you. It was said somewhere she was inspired by Carolyn Bessette's dress. Carolyn looked good Meghan didn't.

Sorry, but the dress was awful.

I don't mind simplicity (although, I would have preferred some scattered, foliate beading, or something, to give it some interest), but it was flattening her breasts (one of them more than the other, to be more precise...).

It appeared to be made from a very thick, heavy fabric; which, I assume, would normally require some serious corsetry to be built in, around the bust area, to prevent this from happening?

...and/or some serious underwear to be worn under it.

Neither appeared to have been the case.

The skirt shape was also very frumpy.

So, there was nothing to draw the eye away from the bust area.

Also, I don't really think white is her colour, unfortunately - or, not her colour in this type of volume, anyway.

It was very stark and almost medical looking.

On the plus side, I liked the concept of the shoulder area, even if I wasn't convinced by the fabric used, or the execution.

I wouldn't say this elsewhere, by the way, as I feel it might come across as quite harsh - but, this is a fashion forum, after all.

If we can't be honest about our opinions about clothes, here...

I agree completely. The simplicity is not the problem, it was the execution. Meghan has a slim, boxy shape and double bonded fabric would add unecessary bulk and emphasize her boxy frame. It needed to be tailored better.

Upon closer inspection of the bust area, I can see what you're saying. Her small bust had no definition and looked flattened into a lump. that could've been improved.

I don't know what was behind this choice of fabric. To not have wrinkles like Diana did? If Meghan wanted structure with some ease, there are better fabrics than this double bonded one. She could've picked a heavy matte satin for this and it would've been less bulky.

^^
She is very beautiful! The dressed don’t even matter at this point. She is stunning and she is a stunning bride.
Beautiful couple and he is also very handsome in his simple velvet tuxedo!

I actually really liked her dress and mostly because it was so simple. I feel like the veil was supposed to be the star (for a lack of a better term) of the "outfit" and maybe a more detailed dress would've not worked that well with the veil. I think she was breathtaking walking down the aisle, quite a vision with her gorgeous veil and smile. Also, I have to say that I absolutely love how perfectly Alexi Lubomirski always manages to capture the love between Meghan & Harry.

Meghan Markle Tapped Artist Daniel Martin For Her Bridal Makeup

It was all about peachy, glowy makeup.

Meghan Markle didn't stray from her usual makeup look for the royal wedding. She tapped makeup artist Daniel Martin—who works frequently with Elizabeth Moss, Honest Beauty, and Dior Makeup—to create the pink and glowing look.

Though it was originally reported that Markle was planning to follow in her sister-in-law Kate Middleton's footsteps and do her own makeup for the wedding, she instead chose to rely on Martin, an old friend. Martin and Markle first met back in 2011 at an event for Suits in New York City.

“I was really flattered to know that I was going to be a guest at the wedding and to be able to share this incredible moment with her,” Martin said on Friday's episode of ABC's 20/20. “I didn’t assume anything, [so] when I got the invitation, of course, I was flattered and so stoked.”

Martin says when he found out Markle was dating Prince Harry through a newspaper while on vacation. When he texted her asking for more, Markle simply sent back a wink-face emoji.“That’s how we communicated a lot — through text or through emojis — and she has the best memes,” Martin says. "We just totally clicked and got along. So seven years later, we’re still great friends."

Martin likely used a mix of Dior makeup and Honest Beauty to create her makeup look, two brands he works closely with. Her eyes were the main beauty feature. She wore a smoky gray eyeshadow and bold, fluttery lashes, with brows that were strong and filled-in to anchor her face. The classic, flirty look seemed like a nod to Audrey Hepburn in Funny Face.

Her skin was kept natural and glowing, which is not uncommon for Markle. She loves to have her freckles visible and not concealed by heavy foundation. Her lips were painted a peachy pale pink shade of lipstick that had a satin finish.

We'll update this post when we have more information on the exact products used.

Meghan Markle's Wedding Dress Took a Truly Impressively Long Time to Create

Though Meghan Markle's wedding dress may have appeared to be a simple look, the craftsmanship behind the Duchess's Givenchy by Clare Waight Keller gown was no easy feat.

When it was reported that the bejeweled gown Blake Lively wore to the 2018 Met Gala took 600 hours to create, and Taylor Swift's dress worn at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards took 800 hours to make—both of which were designed by Versace—many were truly amazed to learn how long it took to make those couture gowns. But Markle's Givenchy wedding dress took a truly impressive amount of time to create.
While the gown worn by Meghan Markle at her wedding to Prince Harry at Windsor Castle may have appeared simple, it took much longer than Lively's and Swift's dresses combined to complete the look. Keller, the British designer who created the gown worn by the Duchess of Sussex, revealed to WWD that it took a whopping 3,900 hours to create the custom-made wedding dress. In addition to that time, about four whole months were dedicated to the creation of the gown. Not even Rihanna's ornate Met Gala Pope look, which was designed by Maison Margiela, hit the thousand-hour mark; her entire outfit took 750 hours to sew and hand-embroider.

It is unclear if those 3,900 hours of dress designing include the creation of Markle's 16-foot-long floral embroidered veil—but even if the veil is included in the total number of hours, that is still a considerable amount of time to spend creating a couture gown. But the simplicity of Markle's dress might not have been possible without the dedicated, fastidious design. As noted on the day of the ceremony, in order to achieve such a sleek and straightforward look, the dress had just six expertly executed seams.

Love the hair, wish she wore it like this for the wedding to go with her classic and polished dress.

The dress, however, is awful. Doesn't fit well, and the color is not very flattering either.

She is wearing stockings! I don't think I have ever seen her do that before.

I don’t think she’s got much choice when it comes to stockings. It’s poor taste not to wear them if you’re a royal.

^ She got the choice to pick tights matching her complexion though...

True! I agree that the dress fits way too slovenly on her and don't think the colour is all that flattering.
