Men In Skirts

men in skirts? sure why not? my man in a skirt- no thanks

It can be a hot look. As long as it's not a frilly miniskirt from Abercrombie & Fitch or something Paris Hilton would wear. Uck.

Kilts for Manly Men?

There is a website suggesting a "movement" for men, a "manly" movement involving kilts and not involving Scottish moors. There might be more than one website like this, but I'm aware of this one, Utilikilts, here is their basic product:

https://secure.utilikilts.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWCATS&Category=37

I'm looking at it and some of the "photo gallery:"
http://www.utilikilts.com/photogal-index.htm

And in some cases the men look "manly" and in others, more "girly", there aren't any made out of lace or satin, but there is one made out of leather, and at the end of it all, I can't decide... Is it a joke, is it for real? (the manly part... I am pretty sure they really sell these.) Is it for guys who are in denial about their desire to wear skirts? Or is this a revival of scottish tradition... Can a manly man with no scottish background, in the 21st century, (let's say going to work in a typical office in downtown New York, one casual enough that shorts would be okay,) wear a kilt as an everyday clothing item?

(back in the day, men used to wear many things that are odd to us today, so just because it used to be common before, doesn't mean it would be accepted now...)

I'd happily wear skinny jeans with a tight mini dress over the top with some stilettos to a club.

In the more electro biased parts of London at night no one would bat an eyelid. I know quite a few girls that only date men who would try this. I've worn a black tux jacket, skinny jeans, a white trilby and white stilettos to a burlesque club and I got chatted up by so many girls.

Ben...

Oh for god's sake it's only clothing. It sounds so similar to the cries when women started wearing trousers and flat shoes. What next. Women shouldn't get as much pay as men? Or men shouldn't be allowed to cook food? No wait... I know, black and white people should use different toilets...

I'm so bored

Hmmm if the wind is gonna blow their skirts...then why the hell not?!:brows:

Crafty Eylul! hahha

@benno, how could you manage to stand on stilettos?

How can I stand in Stilettos?

Well... If I can ride a mountain bike down a Swiss mountain or drive a car on a race track, then standing on tiptoes isn't that hard.

If you see it that way, yes! I personally find it more easy to climb Everest!

Loafers work for me!!!

Did you get used to it easy benno?

My GF used to do catwalk. She taught me how to walk. It's easy but needs a little practice. We ended up having a walking on cobbles competition with her and her friend.

For stilettos I suggest to continue the discussion on the Heels for Men Thread on the Fasion Spot.

I do wear knee-length skirt sometimes in summer, too. Just a simple one from H&M with trouser-like front pockets and zip.

I just bought a kilt this past weekend at a Renaissance Festivel and probably the only time I'll ever wear it will be at a Ren. Fest.

ME in a skirt with vintage purple cone heels.

No problem.

If the skirt doesn't look all flowery, why not? If it accentuates masculinity, why not? Kilts can look very masculine, and I've seen some skirts that look really masculine too. When I lived in Portland (just a few weeks ago) I saw someone with army boots, a camaflauge skirt, a vintage black t-shirt with a band logo, a beat-up looking leather jacket with spikes, a spiked collar, a mohawk, and a goatee. If I would have heard someone describe it to me I would have initially thought, "yuck", but when I saw it, it looked masculine, punkish, and pretty cool.

I'd definately buy a kilt if they weren't so expensive, they're usually around $300.

I got mine for 35$ at a Ren Fest. Handmade by a true Scottish guy.

The utilikilts are pretty expensive.

I just saw pictures of Ashton Kutcher wearing a kilt out for lunch. V. interesting to see someone like him wearing one.
