Men.Style.Com picks for F/W

as somone who is part of the marketing machine..
i can tell you that we DO know...and as i said...
if the consumer doesn't like it ...they won't wear/buy it...
regardless of what celeb pushes it or what store carries it...
you can only suggest to the public via marketing...
but they really drive the market...especially in these difficult economic times... :flower:

as to why they like what they like...
that IS a big (and fascinating...imo) subject...

Thanks - you said what I've typed and erased too many times. As someone who also works in fashion trying to drive customers to buy what we think will be hot 6 to 8 months after we design it, it's a continuing struggle to try and determine what will sell. As someone who isn't tied to any one style, and actualy mixes up many many styles to create my own, so many things appeal to me perhaps in ways that aren't typical of most consumers, so I might not always be the best judge of what the public at large will like, but I also can understand the appeal of different things for different markets.

On a personal note, thanks kLm for posting the link to begin with. I'm particularly taken by the cashmere Lacoste polo - I can see myself wearing a fitted red one, but with suspenders or even a fitted tweed waistcoat, tight jeans rolled up to the shin and buckled lug boots, mixing a traditionally preppy shirt with the image of hi-end luxe, daubed with traditional menswear details in a slightly skewed skin-head uniform by way of Dior Homme SS 2006. I tried out a version of this outfit today, and I must say I quite enjoyed the look. Cashmere will bring it into Fall. I rather like all of Saks' buyer's choices, actually, as they're all about mixing the traditional with non-traditional twists. The mix is the message! :flower:
