Men's Denim

Yea, they were too oversoiled for my taste, but I wouldn't say they are ugly in themselves... I couldn't get the Cloak jeans past my thights either

The "soiling" wears off/in pretty quick, it is mostly a sheen, and it actually works into the fabric quite nicely. I'm still not sure how the hell I'm going to clean them.. I guess with a sponge and soap. I hate dealing with waxed stuff.

I can't find them - which season/make are they? Anyone have a link?

Oh. Those. People have been trying to get rid of those pants for months! Thanks for the link, K.

No problem. I've, uh, seen better pants ;) Can YOU get into Cloak jeans?

I almost bought a pair at Louis Boston during their last sale. The only problem was that the front of the pants (the lower ab to crotch area) seemed to be too long and flat. Sorta hard to describe, but I guess the rise was long and the crotch low. I sort of prefer the low rise/normal crotch of Diors.

I tried to like the cloaks... after all they were I think under $100, but I just couldn't!

OMG... this is probably irrelevant here, but I don't know where to put it.. I was cleaning out of my closet. I can't believe I own

9 different pairs of Dior Homme Jeans.
3 Diesel Jeans
2 Energie Jeans
1 CCP Jeans

:shock::shock: I didn't know I own 15 pair of jeans... :oOMG... and thats not to mention my pants.

Time to get rid of some of them on Ebay...

All Rick's denim lines are horribly dissapointing to me, both Slab and Dark Shadow.

I think you may have seen the style from last Fall, which have low rise, low-crotch fits ( in the construction, there's a panel underneath the crotch to extend it lower), with multi-seamed, skinny legs - IIRC, it was called the Patchwork jean. It's a very difficult style to pull off, and you have to know that that's the style otherwise you'll think it's a sizing mistake. For lack of a better description, think of them as low-rise, MC Hammer pants. Yes. scary. But even Karlo at Atelier was sporting a pair (from another designer) last Fall.. They started producing that style the Spring before (none of those collections are online now, because Alexander designed them with his former partner, and he seems to have exorcised them from his history), and they weren't the only menswear designers to do it ( I think even Burberry had a variation). I have a pair of those, but I only bought it for my collection. I rarely wear it, and when I do,, I better dress in head-to-toe, high-design concept, otherwise it just looks odd.

Dark Shadow is already being sold at some stores in japan.

I could not see anything special about the line, but its only my first opinion.

I don't think you'll have any problems fitting in Cloak jeans Alex. Actually, I don't think you'll ever have any trouble fitting into any kind of jeans. :p
No, I mean I don't think they make a 28. I was thinking they started at 30.

Just catching up on this thread and I see I need to correct an impression:
Arturo, it wasn't me who announced they were bowing out of this thread. It was KLM (the confusion results, I think, from the fact he quoted me in the same posting as he was bowing out). I was in fact happily agreeing with some of what KLM was saying and most all of what Alex was saying, and completely unmiffed by any of the posts.

I don't see how anyone here is lying to oneself. Ofcourse, some people just enjoy contradicting everybody to make others feel the fool and then repeat exactly what they said previously. That has to stop.

This thread is about denim. So let's not reply to this post and start a petty little fight, that would definately be a shame.

Disstop - You can return, you've made great points and it would be a shame that you leave this good discussion. I've learned quite a bit about denim from this. :flower:

Let's talk DENIM. :woot:

AlexN - where could I go to actually see the denim cloth without the leg-fitting shape and the label. Thx. :)

the cloak jeans i tried on weren't tight. the diors i tried on were really tight on me- hardly could wear them.

anyway. 45 rpm has a black indigo jean. they're nice. i have a pair :)

Arturo,
Have you managed yet to track down a pair of jeans you like? If you decide to try APC I would order a couple of sizes in both cure and new standard. Cure are quite slim fitting, about like dior 21cm style; new standard are a little bit looser, closer to Helmut Lang boot cut. Cure fit small (the size 33 is close to this spring's size 32 in dior); not only are new standard looser in style, but they fit about a size larger. I'm a size 33 in cure; size 32 in new standard. It's worth paying the 20 bucks for the return parcel to up your chances of finding a pair that fit you right. For your reference, I stand about 6 foot and weight 160ish pounds. The cure look good on me, but if your height to weight ratio is much less than mine, you're pushing it to fit the cure properly.

Helmut Lang Jeans: Styles

Hi all,
For online shopping purposes, trying to get a handle on which of the various helmut lang jeans styles are slim fitting and low to medium low-waisted. My ideal jeans are dior 21cm hem. My favourite helmut lang fit is low-waist contour fit, which are about as narrow as the dior. Also like the fit of 'Classic 5 pocket', overall quite slim. However, I've had bad luck with other styles. "Classic boot cut" for one, legs too baggy. Also a couple other styles (one heinously high waisted, though the leg's ok, forget the style name).

Question is: what other helmut lang styles should I be looking for? Or avoiding? I wish yoox would name styles in their listings, but at least the mannequin fit gives a half-decent idea of what the style's actually like.
