The British Fashion Council (BFC) is delighted to announce the emerging menswear talents who will receive NEWGEN MEN support, sponsored by TOPMAN to showcase their SS16 collections at London Collections Men.

Tonight British Fashion Council and TOPMAN celebrated past and present NEWGEN MEN recipients at an event hosted by GREY GOOSE and Soho House that saw London Collections Men ambassador Nick Grimshaw, Sibling’s Cozette McCreery and Ponystep’s Richard Mortimer DJ to guests which included press, buyers, industry influencers and ambassadors.

Caroline Rush toasted winners with GREY GOOSE Le Fizz, GREY GOOSE Rendez-Vous, GREY GOOSE Soho House Aperitif and GREY GOOSE Pear de Lune which were specially created for the evening by GREY GOOSE Global Ambassador, Joe McCanta. The canapé menu featured honey glazed roast pork, risotto, pea, mint, goats cheese and duck rillettes, walnuts and dried fruit.

Jason Griffiths, Marketing Director of TOPMAN said: “June will see yet another very strong line-up for NEWGEN MEN at London Collections Men. We at TOPMAN are very proud to be the continued sponsor for this important award – and are looking forward to seeing what the cream of emerging British menswear has to offer this season. The list of recipients includes designers whose shows are quickly becoming essential must-sees on the schedule and we are delighted to welcome three new names to the NEWGEN MEN roster in Bobby Abley, Cottweiler and PIETER.”

Gordon Richardson, Creative Director of TOPMAN said: “NEWGEN MEN SS16 sees another exciting designer line up guaranteed to inspire us all with their fearless creativity and desire for change. I can’t wait!”

As well as receiving showcasing opportunities the recipients are given financial support and business mentoring. The BFC is working with DLA Piper and Baker Tilly to provide legal, commercial and accounting advice for the designers.

Caroline Rush, Chief Executive of the BFC, commented: “NEWGEN MEN is globally recognised as an identifier of talent and celebrates an industry that is growing rapidly, providing much needed support for the emerging businesses that will one day sit at the helm of the menswear sector. The opportunity to showcase a collection at London Collections Men and the key mentoring support that this initiative offers could not be awarded to twelve more deserving designers, each a unique and exciting success story in the making. ”

NEWGEN MEN was established in September 2009, building on TOPMAN and Fashion East’s successful MAN initiative, and has supported designers including Christopher Shannon, J.W. Anderson, James Long Lee Roach and Sibling. Gucci to Move Men’s Show
In line with Gucci’s new course initiated by president and chief executive officer Marco Bizzarri earlier this year, the Italian luxury firm is changing the venue of its men’s wear show this season.

WWD has learned that the brand’s new creative director Alessandro Michele is expected to unveil the spring 2016 men’s collection at the former Farini railway station in Milan’s via Valtellina.

This is a first for Gucci, after about a decade of shows held at a theater in piazza Oberdan, near the Sheraton Diana Majestic hotel. While the Italian Chamber of Fashion has yet to issue the official calendar of the city’s Men’s Fashion Week, Gucci is expected to show on June 22, maintaining its Monday slot at 12.30.

MAN London Announces Its Spring 2016 Designers—and Its 10th Anniversary Plans
It’s no secret that the menswear market is booming. Once on the fringe of developed show seasons like couture and ready-to-wear, men’s fashion weeks are becoming more established the world over, with New York hosting its first-ever men’s week this summer. London, however, has been on the forefront of emerging menswear talents all along, thanks to MAN, a showcase founded by Topman and Fashion East that turns 10 this year.

Created in 2005 and presented as an addition to the London’s womenswear schedule, MAN set the precedent for London’s current London Collections: Men week. It also introduced the world to talents like Jonathan Anderson, Astrid Andersen, and Craig Green. “It’s crazy to think we’ve been doing MAN for a whole decade—I’ve enjoyed every moment and am so proud of the brilliant talent that has come through our scheme!” exclaimed Fashion East director Lulu Kennedy about the program’s 10th anniversary, adding, “We embarked on this journey with our fantastic partners in crime, Topman, back in 2005 when there was no menswear scene in London, and look what happened as a result!” To celebrate, MAN will be producing a special film, MAN Turns 10, for its Spring 2016 showcase.

That showcase won’t be without excitement on the runway, either. This season, MAN is highlighting two of London’s emerging talents on the runway: Liam Hodges and Rory Parnell-Mooney. Hodges is a Royal College of Art grad who has been showing with MAN for two seasons already and whose street-influenced pieces can be picked up at Dover Street Market and VFiles, among other retailers. Parnell-Mooney is also a repeat MAN designer, having shown his Fall 2015 collection with the program. Also stocked at DSM, his creations tend toward dark androgyny. Keep your eyes peeled for these two young talents, as well as more menswear news, as we head into the Spring 2016 season.

Balmain Homme is finally having an actual runway show. Quite exciting as it's only the good part left of Balmain.

Balmain to show menswear at Paris Fashion Week
Following the announcement of its collaboration with Swedish retailer H&M, Balmain has once again taken center stage. The Parisian luxury brand will debut its men's collection in June on the catwalks.

"This is the brand’s first show, which will take place in Paris on Saturday June 27 at 14h as part of men’s fashion week," said a spokesperson for the house.

Under the leadership of artistic director Olivier Rousteing, Balmain menswear, which was launched in 2009, has grown from season to season, gradually finding its audience. "There is strong demand. It works very well. Balmain Men now accounts for 40% of total sales," said the fashion house.

Strateas Carlucci, Hood by Air and Balmain to Stage Paris Men’s Shows
DEBUTS AND ADIEUS: Men’s fashion week in Paris is reshuffling its roster.

After Damir Doma moved his label to Milan and Kris Van Assche shelved his namesake brand, Strateas Carlucci is slated to make its debut on the Paris fashion calendar, scheduled to run from June 24 through June 28.

The Melbourne-based brand, founded by Mario-Luca Carlucci and Peter Strateas in 2012, is to take the 12:30 p.m. slot on June 24.

Among other newcomers are Hood By Air, which is to present its men’s line for the first time on the Paris calendar, and Balmain, ready to stage its first runway show, following growing interest in the couture house’s men’s collections designed by Olivier Rousteing.

Miharayasuhiro, meanwhile, is opting for a presentation in lieu of a catwalk show, and Haider Ackermann will stage his “Men’s Wardrobe” in the format of a seated “private show” to a small circle of guests, following last season’s guessing game in the dark.

Why do they have Calvin Klein listed on both Milan and NY?

^
Milan will probably host the actual runway and New York will be more like a business viewing.
