ah,beautiful picture above ^.i think i will never forgive her for ruining catherine in wuthering heights.that whiny, fragile sweet little daisy had nothing to do with the catherine from the book.the book-catherine is a tempestuous,passionate,head-strong persona, heathcliff´s female counterpart.i didn´t see much of that in merle oberon´s performance.well,to her favour i have to say that this film version as a whole mutilated the book tremendously and is far,far away from its contents. yet laurence olivier played heathcliff so welll, that he ´s nevertheless my favourite film-heathcliff and i would have loved to see him as heathcliff in the more authentic wuthering heights version with ralph fiennes (as much as i love ralph fiennes he was a rather mediocre heathcliff,he later said so himself).well, however, merle oberon was a beautiful ,fragile butterfly being...
dinahgrace,i saw that film too and read that it was based on merle oberon´s life.
