Golden, silver, platinum. Anwho, anyhow, it was not rare on the catwalks these past few weeks I noticed. Some examples:

I like Lamé, although I fear it getting out of hand and ending up in the late 80's again. Those designers kept lamé from looking cheap.

Metallic can be beautiful, but it can also be very hard to pull off without looking cheap.

^ Agreed, I don't like metallic bags or metallic shoes (except for strappy sandals).

For clothes it can be cute, but not always. Sometimes it's too much.

i love it too ... that silver lame dress is gorgeous :crush: ... it looked great on gwen stefani...

I agree about the accesoiries....fw 04 and ss 05 had lots of metallics in the accesoiries, but this season it's more in the fabrics and in the details of the fabrics. Lamé for instance... So basically, clothes have more of a shine this season.

Style.com noticed it too:

Liquid Metal

Roberto Cavalli poured it on thick with pleated metallic dresses for fall, saying that he was "inspired by Old Hollywood." But it was Young Hollywood that sat up and took notice, including Kate Hudson: She wore one to the London premiere of The Skeleton Key, where she shone like an Oscar. Other designers also went for the gold with precise pleating. Zaldy, the co-designer of Gwen Stefani's L.A.M.B. collection, showed a short cocktail dress with countless tiny folds; As Four's pantsuit boasted a fan effect; and in Milan, at Derercuny, pressed lamé fell in a ruffled cascade. For his part, Alexander McQueen maintained the silver standard with proper British polish.

I saw way to many of the metallic/sparkly kind for spring and I really hope not as many people where it for fall... because the thing is I do like a lot of these looks. Hopefully the "public" wont catch on to this trend and I can enjoy my metallics in peace...

Metallic Clothes

Metallic comes in pretty much anything... and why is so "in" right now? It's not even the best look. I'm not saying it's ugly, I'm only saying that it's everywhere without an eye catching look.

Depends on how it's manipulated and executed, really. At the moment,I am completely obsessed with metallic gold floss and metallics that evokes a sort of baroque quality. Not too sure about lame material specifically(is this what you're talking about)....seems a bit too disco-y 70's to me.

^ Yeah, lame is difficult to do without it being too glitzy and gaudy.

What do you mean by gold floss Scott, it sounds beautiful.

It does have a '70s look to it. I also think some people are taking it too far. There is so much of the metallic.... I've seen the belts and handbags getting more popular.

I don't mind metallic if it is muted and a little dull. I also like if it has a very organic, natural texture. I do not like the super shiny cheap looking stuff.

I can take it in embroidery, and maybe in shoes...like party shoes, or espadrilles, but I've seen metallic jackets and huge metallic purses, and those I just can't stand.

I find it hard to accept huge metallic purses too, they can cause serious eye damage! but I luuuuuv the shoes, I personally think they're Irresistible >_<
