^ It's not like Jackie is that talented either.
Like someone said wrote: "It's like asking Michelangelo's brother work on his David."
It doesn't make any sense.

I can't be happy about this album.
I'm definitely not buying it...

Yeah, it's not making sense at all.

I'll probably buy it myself. But I think this a commercial album ( like, they release the more recent songs with current artists ) and they'll probably release a "demos album", more for the fans, later. They should do what Motown/Universal did with the "ABC - unreleased tapes", a really fan-oriented album.

^Well, I can't say I'm not looking forward to it. It's Michael and his music!
I wish I didn't have to think about anything else and just enjoy what's to come.
I think he may not have wanted to release those songs when he was alive but who's to say that death wouldn't change anything? If he didn't want to he probably would have put it in the will. Just my thoughts.

^Well, it's not like they really respect his will on the money thing and all.

I mean, he probably knew that those demos will be released, but I think he thought he would have time to work on some of them, while other demos are finished ( like Carousel, for exemple). All the demos aren't probably at the same quality level.
I have some hope that Sony will ask those who work with him for years ( Swedien ) to "help" for that album and to let them pick the best demos.

this thread hasn't moved that fast in a while lol i was like what da hale?!:woot:

Ciao!Manhattan, i can't wait for that new album! so excited! i mentioned it to my co-workers on Monday, i was like 'stocking stuffer' ;)wink ;)wink. and also i had been complaining about that lack of good songs on the radio so November will be ~heaven~ for me.

NakedIfIWantTo, as much as those hater boys are probably threatened by MJ, they still be jamming out right next to me. a couple weeks ago, the other one was closing up the restaurant with me, mopping the floor when he and a regular customer(who stayed to hang out with us) randomly started moonwalking(badly) and doing the side step. i was like "you kids be careful! the floor is wet, you gonna be like humpty dumpty and i'm gon have to mop up yo eggs!"

girlll i swear you be reading my mind! my friend and i agreed "Human Nature" was one of our favorites featured in TII, it gave us goosebumps! i think HN and TDCAU performances made two of the strongest sound bites/mp3's.

tii-humannature.png

TDCAU, i love listening to marching and you guys know i LOVE "History". by the by, NakedIfIWantTo, great signature ^_^

it was awesome they mixed "History" in and to hear Martin Luther King Jr!

in what will go down in history as the greatest demonstration for Freedom in the History of our nation

tii-tdcau.png

i have the TII soundtrack as well even though i have most of those songs -_- except some demos and the poem. but i wish they released the 'live' versions from the movie, wouldn't that have made more sense?

Chris Tucker and his MJ impressions in Rush Hour were so funny! i had to suffer through Gaga overload in my older sister's car because she listens to radio so much. my younger sister made me listen to her Taylor Swift cds in her car  what a bully! lmbo! gotta listen to music loud or you can't hear all the intricacies of the song. it's the "Break O' Dawn"(TII reference) club in my car! B) hayyy, join the partay!

about the new album, i know its hard for all of us because we know what a perfectionist he was. let's face it, as fans we are friggin' spoiled as hale!:p

he did intend for some songs to be released so that his kids would be taken care of but unfortunately we know all about Sony  and it's just one of those things we have to grit our teeth through. as fans, we want the untouched versions of the song because we know his demos are already amazing. but when you run this kind of stuff through a record label, they always gotta piss on everything! "finish" a song when it's not even necessary! but they really just want make the max amount of money for each single which means they gonna f**k around with it(excuse my french).

we also have to put in consideration that it's just business at the end of the day. we still have to deal with the critics review of the album, how 'polished' and cohesive they may be expecting it to be. Sony will be pushing the singles to top the charts and new music videos so either way they are gonna mess with the songs. i would be very very happy if they released an album for the fans of just the untouched demos! i love Michael and will always support him even if i gotta deal with these goddamn(excuse me again) turds.

photos : my iTunes

If he didn't want to he probably would have put it in the will.

You mean the will where he appointed as executor of the estate someone he had previously fired because of his connections to Sony.
The will where his children's names are mispelled.
The will he signed in California when in fact he was on the EastCoast that day.

:innocent:

i love Michael and will always support him even if i gotta deal with these goddamn(excuse me again) turds.

They're more than turds. They actually killed him.
No way I'm buying anything from them.
I'll download for free.

Buying this album is not supporting him.
He wouldn't want us to.

^^it's such a conflict, isn't it :( I want to hear the unreleased songs, on the other hand he wouldn't want us too..But if he planned on releasing some for his children's financial security then it makes it ok for a minute. Then I think ''but are they the same songs he would have chose to release out of the hundreds he had? probably not". And then it's the whole Sony involvement and messing with the songs themselves too. It is indeed frustrating..

i agree with Ciao!Manhattan, i'd like to see people who actually worked closely with Michael on those songs from those specific eras see what they could do to keep it true to his vision. Not all these random 'big names' trying to 'modernize' these tracks.

ignoring Sony for a moment. i can't imagine looking back years from now and regretting not supporting Michael Jackson the artist. whether he is alive to see it or not. as a fan, even if they are gone you want show your support. this is on the assumption that regardless of whether they heavy handedly 'finish' his tracks or not, that they are still good because of Michael's voice and involvement, the heart of it all. i know so many new fans who want to buy his records and i encourage to them to do so. it does benefit Sony but we all know that's not their intention to give money to Sony. it's just the love of MJ as an artist and wanting the number of sales to reflect his fans.

i had many reservations about seeing TII in theatres at first because there was a lot of talk back and forth on whether it would be exploitative. from what i gathered from reading early reviews, i felt it seemed respectful and it's something i wanted to support and see. they showed Michael as is, doing what he does best. no random people interviews and voice overs, just straight rehearsal footage and i'm glad i did. it's an experience i'll always remember.

if TII didn't do well or these future albums don't do well even if the songs are amazingly good then it will look bad for Michael and his fan base. i respect those who will not be purchasing the new albums because i understand their view points. they feel very strongly about it and i feel very strongly in supporting his work, whether it was a finished demo or rough cut. if these albums don't sell well it would go down in history as 'his failure' and i don't want to be apart of that.

for me personally, i don't like discussing the details of his death publicly. i mostly keep it to myself, occasionally discussing it with those very close to me in private when i can't hold it in anymore. i'm still very uneasy about the circumstances but for now, time will tell the truth.

Look at Invincible, for the time that was it promoted it was technically a commercial success. his albums usually have strong sales for a good two years because of ongoing promotion. but with the media frenzy, biased critics, tension with Sony, and ultimate end of promotion it drove those strong sales to the ground. now many non-fans who were very much around when the album was released look back as his discography, they don't even recognize Invincible. even my own sisters who loved "You Rock My World" and "Butterflies" see that album as totally foreign, they don't recognize it. i don't want that happening with his new albums.

^Totally agree with you girl.
I love my signature too:p I saw Usher on CNN a few days ago. Dude mentioned and I listened!
I have the TII album as well!
I remember laughing at Sony's Make Believe tagline. I don't know if they already had that for a long time but TII was the first time I ever noticed.
HN is my absolute favorite song. There's HN and then there's the others.
I love the purplish lighting during HN in TII.
And I don't know if it's just me but he always reminds me of Karl Lagerfeld at the beginning of that performance.

Wow no offense Diorette but I didn't know you were that TINI inclined...:innocent:

Haven't seen this for a long time.

what happened with Usher on CNN?

i don't think i ever noticed that "Make Believe" thing for Sony either...or maybe i didn't commit to memory because i'm not quite sure it fits

i wasn't a fan of the heavy green blue lighting in TII, reminds me of the over saturated Twilight movie. Smooth Criminal was cool though. i love blue, purple, and pink or just normal lighting like during TDCAU.

HN is really something else, when i'm in the mood for it, nothing else will satisfy the cravings :p so lovely, it hits da spot.

the black and white Balmain jacket does gives me Karl Lagerfeld vibes! when KL is not being mean, he is really such a funny little man. MJ was so cute in TII, everyone was swaying to "I Just Can't Stop Loving You".

that photo you posted is beautiful. i like how you can look at the photo different ways, you can see it as sparkling sequins or stars.
our Moonwalker is now amongst the stars*... here's lookin' at you, kid B)

gotta give Off The Wall some love.
otw-howiegreen.png

otw-howiegreen02.jpg

*cue the creepy laughing in beginning of the song*

about a month ago, my friend and i were hanging out at a salon while my older sister was getting her hair done when "Off The Wall" came on. it was so funny, we both turned and looked at each other like :woot: & :woot: then we started singing

"So tonight gotta leave that nine to five up on the shelf
And just ENJOY! yourself"

we had to stop for a moment because everyone in the salon, including us was laughing because we both screamed "ENJOY!" in sync. i love that he sings along with me! he's one of the few people i know who could enjoy slow songs like "The Lady In My Life"...There'll be no darkness tonight...

then the salon radio played "PYT", my older sister doesn't know that song! i mentioned it when i opened my Xmas because i noticed it didn't make the top 30 cut. i said "no love for PYT?", she was like "what's that?", i looked at her like "how does a PYT like yoself not know you are a PRETTY YOUNG THANG?!" :p

i'm glad you like, Melfreya! those moments make me so happy!

^ yeah I think so too^_^
What kind of a salon is that that always plays MJ?! :woot:
it's sorta like the 'friendly neighborhood salon', really chill atmosphere and everyone kinda knows everyone. i think they just played radio but it was good that day!

they played Michael at a Lounge i was at on Saturday! it was House music night and i was fist pumpin' to "Working Day And Night" i saw some girl dancing with a MJ-esque black fedora on, i was wondering if she was a fan. then i saw her guy friend with a white fedora with a stripe, very Smooth Criminal ;). another lady on the patio had the cutest little Billie Jean-esque jacket with black sequins all over. the Lounge was unusually weird that night, other than MJ and Kid Cudi the music sucked and crowd was uglily aggressive / aggressively ugly so we left.

Dangerous Bucharest "Working Day And Night"

so we decided to go to karaoke! i had a rain check with my friend because i bailed on karaoke last time because i drank too much:ninja:. i mean who else would know all the words to MJ, Queen, Prince, Tupac, and Coolio? the place we went to is the kind with the private rooms not a bar. puhlease, i would not be satisfied singing only ONE song, gimme da mic! lol

first thing my friend(same guy from salon) looked for was "Human Nature" but they didn't have it! then "Rock With You", especially because one of my co-worker friends was there and did not know that song  how is that even possible?!...they didn't have it either! * face palm *

then i was like "La La Means I Love You"? "ABC"? "Dirty Diana"? , nope! in fact i don't think they had any Jackson 5. i wanted to duet with him, "I Just Can't Stop Loving You", didn't have it. i was with a big group of friends so you gotta fight to get your song picks in. does this happen to you guys?: for some reason everyone was picking songs but not singing them! i found myself singing along to every song. Even the songs i didn't know! at one point my sister turned to me and asked "how do you know this(random slow song) and i don't?" i said "I DON'T. i'm just pretending!" i had the melody down so i was just singing it how i thought it was supposed to go

finally got to "I'll Be There", Mariah Carey version but we all sang it like J5's. it was me and my sister on the mics, and our friend singing backup. call us the Jackson 3! lol it was funny how we all did the hand gestures "i'll reach out my hand to you". my friend was cueing up Jermaine's part but accidentally called him "Jerome", which made me almost fudge the line lol. i did my impromptu "dontcha know baby yeah yeahhhh" and my friend was like it's not at that part yet lol! i was like "it's da remix "I Be Thurrr'". IBT is a really hard song to sing WELL when you're so used to Baby Mikey's vocal acrobatics!
I'll Be There A capella

we didn't do Thriller but i think it's so underrated lyrically just because it's soo much fun to sing! i did an a capella of it between songs anyway lol
They're out to get you
There's demons closing in on every side
They will possess you
Unless you change that number on your dial
Now is the time
* For you and I to cuddle close together * YEAHHHH
;)

We also sang Billie Jean, my sister's boyfriend got up and pretended to moonwalk lol. it was the 3 Stooges singing again, me, my sis, and our friend. it was hilarious when we did all the ad-libs ourselves since the lyrics didn't come up on screen for it "hee hee hee" and pointing for every "hoo!". when it was time for the part of the song where he moonwalks like in his Motown 25 performance, we were all sitting but you could see all of us shuffling our feet, leaning backwards into each other on the couch! My younger sister couldn't make it to karaoke but she will be very happy to hear that i sang Billie Jean because she says whenever she hears that song, she thinks of me .

My friend who likes MJ also loves Queen but he wasn't aware of MJ and Freddie Mercury's collabos so on our way home, we listened "There Must Be More To Life Than This"

so do you have any great karaoke experiences with Michael's music? please share!

I'm very jealous that you get to see and hear MJ everywhere you go!
Salon, work place, lounge. And then you have a sister who makes MJ DVDs for ya! :o

I love the WDAN gif  I've been staring at it:D

I should go to Karaoke with you! We can fight for the mic.
The places that I've been to they don't have much J5 songs either. It seems that Asians (I go to Asian Karaokes^_^) don't know much about MJ during the J5 era. The song that everybody has is YANA! Although everybody also has the same crappy version. It goes out of sync toward the end!
For other songs they'd just have the mv version without the lyrics thing. So I always just end up watching the mv instead. I pretend I know every song too I mean it's really easy to tell where the melody is going so nobody gets the mic away from me!

I sang I'll Be There Mariah version too! It was a live version of hers.
Did you also do the slide at the beginning?

And I call them the little humps after

If you should ever find someone new...
I know he better be good to you

Oh and by the way Usher was on CNN's Talk Asia the other day. He was talking about Mike and how Mike told him about history. Hence my signature quote!B)

i'm so spoiled...with love! i still had the mic in my hand so since they didn't have "Dirty Diana", for my sister's birthday i did an a capella for her:
Diana, it's your birthday
God bless you this day
You gave me the gift of an olda sister
and i'm proud of you today..
..i wish you better than your heart Dee-sires
and your first kiss from a boy *points to her boyfriend *
Diana, it's your birthday! Happy Birthday Diana! oooh ooh ohh oooooh

She loved it! we watched a lottt of Simpsons growing up, like 5-6 times a week and saw the episode with MJ soo many times!
birthday-simpsons.png

Mikey really is everywhere! at least wherever i go...i went to this tiny little tucked away book store that probably only had two employees, one cashier in front and one guy in the back who organizes the books. they were playing PYT! they probably caught me on the security cam moonwalking and then going back to acting all normal like don't mind me just browsing books :innocent:

for me during the day: i hear his music in shops, ringtones, and car radios. night time: night life. all the lounges, clubs, and bars. even when i was out of town and walking around the downtown areas, they were blasting Billie Jean. i was wearing shiny gold shoes and i was like "hey look i'm lighting up sidewalks!" B) and seeing drunks dance to his music as they are crossing the street is priceless.

i'm glad you like the gif! we would have soo much fun at karaoke!

i went to a Korean karaoke place, we had our shots of soju before we started and a back up beers. we were like NO non-alcoholic beverages allowed so that no one has an excuse of being too shy to sing! Some people need liquid courage...not me though.

i saw that they had YANA at our place too! i do think they had a decent selection of songs and they update fairly often but i could give them some more suggestions. they also had Bad, Beat It, Thriller, and *drum roll* Blood On The Dance Floor! that was unexpected. i got rain checks for Man In The Mirror with my sister and The Way You Make Me Feel with my friend for next time. i wish they had the official videos for all the songs! i should just get some karaoke programs and have the party at my house.

we didn't get to do the slide at the beginning because the song was soo slow. you should have seen our faces when it started, like :woot: finally! then -_- really?! oh lawd we gotta sing to this slow sh*t but we got into it anyways!

it's so true what he said about history!
