Michael Kors F/W 06.07 NYC

I don't think that the fact that you can sort of expect what kind of stuff the designer will come up with is bad.. that is kind of what makes people have favorite designers.. also it kind of creates a certain style that signifies the designer

I liked his collection a lot because it was so casual.. and knowing myself at winters, clothes that look casual but in the same time very good are what I look for..

I would certainly prefer his casual look before what ever it was that marc jacobs came up with this season:innocent:

i think these dresses are quite nice. same goes for the shoes. i'm not usually into michael kors at all but these are the kind of pieces of clothes i actually see myself wear instead of just admire from a distance.

also, i think that these dresses will look good on people which are a bit more full-figured. the last dress for instance doesn't suit lily very well, i think, as her hips are extremely narrow ..

He is certainly not very innovative, but I don't think everything has to be outrageous to be considered good fashion.
I have some of his stuff (a few pairs of pants, some shirts and sweaters) and I have to say that they fit me like a glove. The cut is perfect and every piece is very well made. Sometimes you want to wear something elegant and basic and I think he fits the bill.:flower:

Not his most inspired collection for certain, but still very him.
Kors on automatic!

Very good point ... I have noticed this in Kors ads ... the one that stands out in my mind is a pair of jeans that looked so wrong on the model's doll-size pelvis. These clothes are properly made to fit actual women. Last I knew one of his fit models was a size 12. Can you imagine that happening at Proenza?? I think some designers have never been told about size 12 ... ssssssssssshhhh ...

No wonder Kors has a loyal following ... I just wish there were a few more exciting pieces, so I could get on the train. He does seem to have a bit of an unfortunate tendency to continue reworking trends that are actually over ... but he certainly gets points from me for execution.

this is geared towards a very specific clientele...
i saw a horde of them in the manolo section of the bergdorf shoe dept yesterday...

they have mucho $$$ and they love this stuff...
they all look the same ...and they do NOT follow trends...
he knows exactly what he is doing...

:)
i actually thought this was one of his less boring collections myself...

Cathy Horn of the NYT said this about the collection...
"A different amazement greeted Michael Kors's collection on Wednesday. I like Mr. Kors's shows. They're a heaven of clichés, a Top-40 radio station of hits, and you always get up feeling good but also a little bad, the way you do when you cry at a TV commercial."

I have to agree. I like his clothes, they are extremely well made, but they can be cliché, which I don't think is always a bad thing. Clothes serve different purposes, and his are consistent, sharp, and well made. I agree with what Cllidora said.

thanks for the quote...
i totally get that...
and i agree with clidora as well...

good points...

Agreed:) I noticed that he has a very specific market to cater to, and his clients determined where he goes. This collection is really above at least the previous three collections I've seen.

I also agree. Its nice, but its still feels like a recycling of the previous ones. It doesnt give me the ZaZaZuu.

See, I think that Michael Kors is never necessarily trying to be edgy. I think he has an incredibly loyal roster of clientele, who like him because of the fact that he produces more basic and wearable fashions that they don't feel too over-the-top in. If he all of a sudden went out on some new whim, he would risk alienating some of his customers. I think Michael Kors is more of a practical designer than an art designer.

Exactly. The man has a niche, and he, for the most part, does it well. There's room for art designers as objects of beauty, as you so describe. Not all women, however, want to wear "art designer" stuff.
