Michelle Williams

At this point, I believe that Michelle can play everything. She's truly an incredible actress.

I totally agree, I adore her and am time and time again floored by her immeasurable talent, but people tend to be a lot more critical when actors play real people.

I will need to see it; I have watched most of Marilyn's films, have read two biographies about her, seen various documentaries. So it may be difficult for me to see Michelle as her. But I am open to it.

She is going to be AMAZING. I have no doubts about Michelle and this role. I really can't wait to see it. I hope this gets her an Oscar!

Take This Waltz Teasers:

Wow thank you! I've been waiting for some clips for ages now!!
I can't wait to see this movie, it looks such a promising film!

she is going to be so perfect as marilyn, i was actually incredibly surprised to see how many people doubt her but on the internet (blogs especially) i think everyone is just especially vicious, haha.

In that magazine shot and with the sunglasses, Michelle really resembles Marilyn. Thanks for the teasers: looks like another great film. :) I don't know why but the last clip reminded me of Sofia Coppola's style, very atmospheric, and lonely.

^Hmm, that's interesting, but Polley is, in my opinion the better film maker, but Sofia's films always looks beautiful, such wonderful cinematography...

A better quality version!

I love Sarah's Away from Her; it broke my heart. But admittedly I have seen no others of her directorial work, so I cannot comment. Both her and Sofia use setting so effectively, both tap into emotions so well. Sarah is more cerebral and dialogue oriented while Sofia is more about music and atmosphere. Both are much needed in film-making. Young women - YES!!

(aside: speaking of Sarah, I have yet to see Splice! Must do)

An even bigger shot of Michelle-Marilyn! :)

the marilyn still looks fab!
and I love sarah polley's movies so much! away from hair was such a breathtaking and moving one!

She really does not make a good Marilyn.

I'm not sure of that. She may not have real strong physical resemblance with the real Marilyn, I think she can be really adequate for rocking the part because she exsudes, as the real M an intense strongness mixed with a deeply moving inner frailness. Basically, every time I see Michelle act, I believe in her.

They haven't even released a trailer yet, let alone the film so it's a bit early to judge whether or not she's 'a good Marilyn'. Having seen some of the filming, I think you might be surprised. She's not a natural fit for the part physically, but I think her performance will capture the frailty of Marilyn at that point in her life. And it's a film with an incredible cast for her to bounce off.

It was the photo in #230 that really made me think this would not be a good fit. It's hard to see how it could work given that shot. It's not an easy job though, nobody has succeeded with playing Marilyn so far, despite the hundreds of thousands of attempts.
