There’s been a sudden up tick in the number of images of Michelle Williams floating around thanks to some recent developments in her personal life (Dark hair! Suddenly single! Blah blah blah!). We don’t care about that stuff much, but seeing all the pictures of Ms. Williams got us thinking...and wondering What Would She Wear?

The yummy mummy is quite petite and practical too, you’ll never see her in obvious designer pieces or loud garments. She favors emerging designers like Behnaz Sarafpour, Derek Lam, and Philip Lim (and often can be found sitting front row at their shows). Keeping the clean lines and sophisticated color palette Williams wears in mind, for today’s story we picked a few fun, fashion-forward pieces that we imagine she might like.

We selected a long-strapped bag that’s in keeping with Williams’ slightly seventies style, a droll pair of fashion-dorky, lace-up booties, and a cap with a sense of humor (it’s only knit, but in the shape/style of an equestrian helmet, which is oddly funny). Paired with an amazing, preppy-ish sweater from cult label APC and a high-waisted skirt from Matthew Williamson, we think the overall look is perfect for the Brooklyn-based beauty.

Delicate and a little preppy, this silver ring by Kiel Mead seems like the sort of unpretentious jewelry Williams wears.

2. Jacquard Pullover in White, Navy Blue, and Beige (229, apc.fr)
Williams is a walker (she’s always spotted strolling around her Brooklyn hood) and this lambswool sweater from APC is perfect for her upcoming autumn jaunts.

3.Flannel Pleat Skirt in Grey ($490, shopzoeonline.com)
This Matthew Williamson pleated, paper bag-style skirt is from Zoe, a Brooklyn boutique with fantastic stuff. The high-waisted wool skirt comes with the belt shown here, but it’s detachable—neat!

4. Small Shoulder Bag/Clutch in Noir ($462, shopbop.com)
This soft leather bag from Vanessa Bruno has a detachable shoulder strap, so it can go from an across-body bag to a clutch in seconds, making it perfect for a busy mom.

5. Reversible Front Pleat Coat ($765, net-a-porter.com)
What’s not to love about this wool/cotton coat from 3.1 Phillip Lim? The gray color would be great with William’s hair and the three-quarter length sleeves are a smart choice for a small person.

6. Lace-Up Wedges in Light Gray Patent Leather ($706.60, monamoore.com)
There’s something about these orthopedic-chic oxfords by Dries Van Noten that scream, “Michelle Williams can wear these and look fantastic—but everyone else will look like an accidental librarian!”

7. Knit Cap in Black ($80, refinery29.com)
The second we saw this equestrian-style wool hat from In God We Trust, we knew it was the sort of thing you see on Williams’ head at Sundance.

I am so sad about their split....I really hope that it'll only be a break and they get back together and make more unbearable cute and painfully indie babies!!!

I like the short brown hair more than the short blonde, but she looked stunning with the long blonde locks....*sigh* i just hope the rumours about Heath and Helena C aren't true!!
