Milan Menswear Fashion Week Fall 11/12 Schedule

did i do that? while i personally don't buy into the teddy boy, fifties rock, new wave punk look, it's not outside of the ouevre of these italian and french brands to take on that look from time to time. whether it's bottega veneta or gianfranco ferre or dior homme or versace or givenchy, each of the houses has it within their range to take on that look. looking back into archival versace -- which martyn bal and donatella versace did when they created those collections -- one can find the elements they reference. however, they chose to place those somewhat obvious versace staples on models that don't have the musculature we associate with the house and style them in a way we wouldn't necessarily associate with the st. tropez/ibiza/moscow milieu where versace holds sway.

I'm not so sure if the models were the only problem here. I found it confusing because after numerous seasons of Plokhov's exotica/ultra-male menswear, Bal refuses to create any sort of subtle transition and dives straight into this redneck-ish territory that really seems to be outdated.
Plokhov's ultra-lux S/S 2010 collection and cyber-badass F/W 10 collection really seemed to strike a modern string with their cuts and accessories, but no matter how many times I look at S/S 2011 I can't help but think how old it looks. It's just a bad attempt at trying to modernize a past decade.

Exactly. I remember seeing the Versace thread and one of the beginning posts was a tweetpic, and I remember wondering if it was a Gucci show. I really hope that Versace goes back to how they used to be.

What are we doing after the shows, boys and girls? What are Milan`s hotspots in january?

well, it's not all that bad. The seasons are always coming a little early than they're supposed to be.

Most of the s/s11 stuff is going to be available around january/early february which means it's on the racks about 4 month after being shown. So it's clothing isn't that dated, when it hits the stores. (This regards only the important designers and not those NY-wannabes)

But a thing that bothers me about menswear is the fact, that new menswear collections are being presented, when the previous ones didn't even hit the stores properly. And I've noticed that most of the pre-spring and resort stuff is going on sale along with the fall/winter stuff.

So I have to wait 6 months until I see what made it to the stores. Annoying as hell.

Another thing that bothers me is that all the stuff hits the stores at the same time. So all the stuff is being made available at a single blow and becomes boring after a month, which mens 5 months of boredom.

But this is all going a little off-topic.

As for milan menswear fashion week I am excited. Especially for Fujiwara (understimated as hell!) and Bottega.

The company — which is in a transitional phase now that its new owner, Prodos Capital Management LLC, is looking for a new industrial partner after Samsung pulled out of the deal — has opted for a presentation on Sunday.
