Minding the Gap

interesting article... thanks for posting :flower:

I really like this quote, it's clearly how her vision has helped the company:
"But also, coming from the outside, I think I define American culture from a very idealistic viewpoint - that sense of freedom and almost surreal cheerfulness."

As always, thx for the article Kit:flower: you always bring interesting things!

You're welcome , chris . :flower:

That's a really nice article. Makes me think different about them. I had noticed their style changing over the past year or so, but tried not to acknowledge that I was liking what I was seeing, because in my mind the Gap was a negative, boring brand.... (all the "fall into the gap" which they advertised in a positive way, but was made fun of in reality as a negative thing. Like "uh oh, looks like you fell into the gap".).

Maybe I'm going to have to take a closer look and put some stereotypes behind.

One question. I used to work for a clothing store, Talbots, and to them sportswear was the suits and things that you would wear to the office (as opposed to casual, which you would wear ... casually). Is that the right term for sportswear? They used it in the article but I can never tell if they mean the way Talbots meant it, or if it means stuff you wear to do sports in....

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the looser definition of Sportswear is basically anything that's not formal, black tie clothing...so I'm guessing even casual blazers and such would be considered sportswear in that sense?

i'm gonna read the article now, sounds interesting...

I walked past a Gap today, and it looked as if they'd made some major improvements, in womenswear at least. I couldn't see any men's on display, and I didn't care to walk in.
