Mo chose to stay in china when she was approached by IMG, Next, etc to familiarize the home market. there's no competition between her & du because theres no doubt Mo will take over where Du (will) leave off. she's smart to wait until approaching 2008.Faith Akiyama said:Ah, I see why angel222 keeps going to Du's thread to bash her now
I love Mo, I really do, but she hasn't had the same backing that Du has been lucky to have (Unfortunately)...so what can anyone do, really? It's not as if these forum threads will prompt people of importance to take more notice of her...All I can say is: her time will hopefully come.

yes, Du just lucked out. i asked a member here who's a fashion editor at Vogue China why she's chosen at all and the reply was "Simple. Vogue China pushed her". She was single handedly picked by a VogueCN principal who has influence, even though it's an old lady with conservative & old fashioned taste. however now agencies are paying lots of attention to chinese models through their runway performance at CFW, as that agent said in the interview. there'll be new girls like Zhang Xue coming over to New York in the coming seasons so it's a sign veterans like Du will be out in favor of a wave who have, like angel222 said, OOMPH.
and yes, i know there are more than a few agents who frequent her & many other models threads here![]()

oh ok, when you said there's nothing we can do on these forums to convince the influencers i thought you didn't. heheFaith Akiyama said:^Yes, of course I know agents frequent here, too![]()
difference between her & them is they are only a handful amongst the majority of caucasian models who receive this backup. when you're a single representative, since there's only Du representing Chinese female consumers now, it should be of public opinion and represent societal values/norms/mores. it's good for business & everything else.yourbestfriend said:I was thinking about this after I read your post, but it seems like the luck of the draw is exactly what is needed for a model to be on top. If a model doesnt receive this luck, she better be equally lucky at every other major publication to have her star rise. But even if VogueCN editor is the one who decides to push her into stardom, it's no different to we see Anna Wintour for VogueUS pushing the same girls over and over, like Karolina Kurkova between 2001-2003, Caroline Trentini, as well as Steven Meisel who shot Jessica Stam exclusively and Coco Rocha at the beginning of their careers. It's the luck that you need to be on top, even if you arent a favourite of more than the editor of a major magazine or highly influential photographer. The new wave of models will hopefully be lucky to churn out a star like Du Juan![]()
yup that's what im hoping. bring on the new kids on the blockyourbestfriend said:The new wave of models will hopefully be lucky to churn out a star like Du Juan![]()
