Models Switching Agencies

So the rumors at The Imagist are reliable indeed...joining Chanel, Chrishell, Kel & Lakshmi is Jacquelyn ;) and probably Flavia too? these girls are loyal to their agents...blame it on Ford's new "Russian" owner...ugh...he should've kept some agents so that the arrival of Supreme girls at Ford board will only make the team stronger...he should've known better...cant' wait to see the new polas of these girls! Go Supreme!!! Go Ford?! hehe ;)

yeah, whoever made the decision to fire so many agents took it to the extreme. I mean when Louie C went to Women, he didn't fire all of Women's bookers and replaced them his crew at DNA as Paul is doing now at Ford. Chris Gay left and that was about it I believe. As a result you didn't see a whole bunch of Women's models follow him to Marilyn.

^ amen! :) anyhow, it seems like Ford NY wesbite inherited supreme's lazy updates  Chanel, Chrishell, Jacq, Kel & Lakshmi are still there  let's see how Paul will develop these Ford newbies...goodluck ;)

I still think in the long run Ford will benefit. Paul is a great agent much better than any of the agents that got fired by Ford, but it was just unnecessary the way they handled it and losing Chanel, Jacqueline and Lakshmi along with the others while gaining Hanne Gaby, Ranya, Karolin and Tao, et al is a bit of a wash. If there's one model who COULD benefit from the changes it's Olivia Gordon. She has that kind of look that Paul seems to like.

I think/hope Supreme goes through a little rebranding. I've always felt that their aesthetic was far too trendy to last, even though I always like their girls. Basically it's just their website that annoys me

OH YES --- completely agree! It's the worst website to navigate through. And that bloody music! Agh.

They definitely need to rebrand themselves. Being hip and cool is fine, but its far too pretentious. Doesn't even look good if you ask me. (and I like Supreme!)

..not only Olivia... a reliable source told me that Paul likes "Karlina" as well ;) she has that Givenchy/ Prada look...I'm curious to see how will he develop her

..and apart from the supreme girls at "Ford" division..it is also composed of the girls who "impressed" Paul...like Tayane, Hyoni, Anne Sophie, Emma, Mariel, Charlene, Ming, Marlena etc...these selected group of girls will get special attention from Mr. Rowland..ooh, can't wait for the results ;)

Is Ming at Ford Ming Xi, one of the runners up at the last Elite Model Look contest? I didn't know she signed with Ford.

OK, so since basically the same girls at Ford are now moving to Supreme how will it help Supreme/Ford? I am very confused because basically the ford girls and the supreme ones are just switching agencies.. What's the reasoning?

ps.
I have been reading this thread for a while but I am just a little confused. if anyone could help me that would be great! :)

thanks!

Here's the simplified version:

Ford released all of their bookers/agents from their editorial "Women" board.
Paul Rowland and the booking team at Supreme moved to Ford because Paul, who sold Women/Supreme in 1998 and has been a salaried employee/director since, never got along with the financial backer/boss/owner.
Supreme hired the bookers let go by Ford, including Development agent Kady Davies and agency director Caroline P. Carlos Ojeda remains at Supreme -- he worked at Ford for many years. Money booker Jen Rubinetti left Supreme to go to Women Direct.
Ford models loyal to their booking team (Chanel, Jacquelyn, Lakshmi) followed them to Supreme, and models loyal to Paul and team (Hanne, Tao, Rachel Clark, Ranya, Antonella, etc) moved to Ford.
Ford is looking to be more editorial and high fashion, essentially returning it to its glory days, while Supreme is looking to be profitable.
And the Director of Women Milan has moved to New York to aid all of the boards during this transition. Models are moving around from Women, Women Direct and Supreme.

I love Karlina and Olivia, and Charlene and Isabelle (yah, hooked since the Canada search and followed my favs since then), but I didn't know if Olivia was still with Ford, since neither she nor Isabelle have been confirmed as such on this site, or any sites I've checked. I'm so on the outside looking in.

it all boils down to money. it is well known in milano that women milano has not been profitable for years. they have always had someone who would step in to give them cash flow and cover there debts. i am sure that paul and mohammed negotiated a very nice economic package for them to make the move, something that made it financially worth it to them to make the move. it also seems that there was never a great feeling between paul and the man in milano.

i think that ford will be the ultimate winner in all of this. i think that paul and his staff are much stronger agents than caroline and hers.

anyone here who ford new york will be aligning with in europe?

Maybe still with Elite Europe? Amidst all the switcheroos, Ming Xi appeared on Ford website this week ;) there seems to be a strong connection between those 2 agencies

Ford is starting to clean up images of Chanel, Jacq & Lakshmi...the "heading" of their blog was finally changed as well as the primary photo of their facebook account..any news on Rose Cordero? is she following Paul too?

there is one thing I still don't understand very well... did Ford and Supreme only trade jackets? Or are them a kinda team or "sisters" agencies? Because if they co-operate which each other is really strong move

if you check the Ford site, lots of profiles are empty, they just left the icons up

Marlena Szoka, Flavia (->Supreme, no?), Nika Lauraitis, etc.

Nika popped up somewhere else (different network), but was quickly removed so idk

I will try to answer your question...
  • Ford and Supreme are separate entities.
  • Supreme and Women / Women Direct are affiliates.
  • As mainstay noted above, Paul Rowland, who founded Supreme and Women and ran the Supreme board was hired, along with other Supreme bookers, by Ford Models.
  • To make way for the new crew, Ford fired the bookers who ran their Women's Board, who were then promptly hired by guess who, Supreme.

So to answer your question, there is no organizational relationship between Ford and Supreme, BUT yeah they did basically trade jackets.
---

This is my interpretation of the moves and if someone has a different take then feel free to add your two cents.

If you see a model switch that is
  • Supreme --> Ford or Ford --> Supreme - that most likely means that the model has followed her booker.
  • Supreme --> Women / Women Direct - most likely means that the model did not want to not leave Supreme or was convinced to stay and that she was moved to the Women side of the house since Supreme is now staffed by ex-Ford employees.
  • Women Direct --> Supreme - I saw these moves I scratched my head because it did not make sense and then I thought about it and it made perfect sense because Women Direct is the most commercial of the Supreme / Women / Women Direct triad and now Supreme, which up until two weeks ago was the definition* of cool and directional is now being run by the ex-Ford staffers whose bookings span the fashion spectrum with a lot of revenue coming from commercial bookings. Also in one of the write ups, the head of Women Direct, Maria Cognata also went to Ford, but I have only seen that written once, so I don't know if that's true. If it is true, that would also explain the moves from the commercial slanted Women Direct to ex-Ford staffed Surpreme.
---

* the funny thing is that looking at the models grouped by agency on the models.com agency ranking list, which don't reflect the recent changes, I don't see how Supreme is seen as the directional standard bearer, and I am not saying that this is everyone's belief. Iris is the only one who embodies the coolness factor and has traction, and even then Iris does a decent amount of catalog work, which is really a good thing. Models like Alyona, Ranya, Rose and Tao embody the coolness factor, but they aren't considered big league. In fairness to Rose, she is still in the early stages of her career, so she is more of a question mark. Next, IMG and Women have done a better job with bringing on models that are both directional and sustainable. Supreme's directional mojo seems to consist of a lot of cool haircuts - that sounds so mean and I actually like the Supreme mystique, but I looked at the thumbnails and that's what jumped out at me.
