Models Switching Agencies

^^yeah I somehwat agree on that  to add to that impression...

Ch-ch-changes are in the air in the world of modeling agencies, as it’s been a turbulant few weeks. Women and Supreme founder Paul Rowland moved onto Ford, causing a slew of model and agent moves.

In the midst of the Ford changes, Cathy Quinn decided to create her very own agency, and announced yesterday the launch of Cathy Quinn Models. Already her agency’s models include Rachel Hunter, Christie Brinkley, Vendela, Dayle Haddon, and Elaine Irwin-Mellencamp.

But that’s not all. With a few model switches between Ford and Supreme, comes another jump. But this time, it’s to Next Models, as the news was just made public that Egle Tvirbutaite is now part of the agency.

I hope Egle does well at Next, she really fits there actually.
I think IMG is still the top agency for long term careers, however their board is VERY crowded. DNA isn't what it used to be 3 years ago and Women aren't what they used to be a year ago.

Does anyone think it's more down to the girl than the Agency? I think girls like Sigrid, Anna Selezneva and Constance don't neccessarily need to be with IMG or DNA to do well. Then again I suppose there's plenty converse arguements for girls who despite not being very special do very well because they have good managers and bookers.

^I so wonder that myself...
But all in all, I feel its rather down to the girl, apart form cases when shes with a really small agency without connections and experiences in booking big jobs

Well, I have to disagree regarding Anna, Constance and Sigrid.

The booker who looks after Anna at Silent is rather well-known for his skills and strategies and they truly did a lot in her career. Though, I can totally agree with the fact the model herself plays a big part in her own success too and if she weren't Anna S. it wouldn't happen the same way.

The current team at NY Models is quite brilliant too, hence my surprise to see so many negative reactions towards Olga Sherer's move from Women to there. It's not only Sigrid, it's also Melissa, Ylonka, Sedene, Patricia and co. who are on a good way. Of course we have to see what their career become in the long run but it's not by chance that you have 5+ girls doing that well at the same moment.

And same for Constance. Eniko's success and Liu Wen's recent rise are good examples that Marilyn is doing quite well and Constance's success is not a fortunate "mistake".

As for Women not remaining what it uses to be... I'm not sure. I think they are still that high-level high fashion agency in NY and I don't see it changing. Now every girl can't work well with every agency and this includes the likes of Women and IMG considered as the major players among the major players. So better for those who didnt make it to leave.

When I say Women isn't what it used to be I thinking of all the girls with amazing faces that are on their boards doing next to nothing. Which brings back the arguement that it is down to the girl sometimes. Vlada, Snejana, Inguna, Agyness, Valentina, up until recently Olga, Yulia K, Natalia Chabeneko, Bruna are all girls who should be working non stop. Yes some of these girls are old news, some don't need to work as much (e.g. Val with Ralph Lauren), right now it seems only a small number of girls on their board are active at the minute, Natasha, Mirte, Nimue, Viktoriya S (for some reason I don't see her as a long term girl though). Iris and Maria Carla only just joined so they don't count as Women's sucesses. They have the best girls on their board and with all their years experience and amazing clients they should be doing more for them.

I don't think Women changed worse at all. The fashion industry is always changing and seeking for new looks, 4yrs ago the skinny minis were in demand, SS09-FW10 the tomboys like Ranya or Tao and now everybody needs to have the Nordic beauties.
It's normal that trend faces do only work well as long as the trend itself lasts and no agency will every be able to keep a trend face on A class all life as it's always up to the consumption/preferences from the clients imo and thus i don't think that flops like Ranya's or Masha's recent situation is the fault of Women (as for Masha City Paris now).
Just a few faces, the true & timeless diamonds, are able to pierce these trends, and speaking of those diamonds @ Women, girls like Viktoriya Sakosina, Toni Garrn, Giedre Dukauskaite, Kasia Struss and Joudan Dunn come into my mind.

ETA: I see someone saying Viktoriya wasn't a long term girl and i completely disagree. She's been working since Spring 2007 and is for me the definition of a future girl working long term.

By far, the most reliable and serious agency by all accounts.

-their money background is clean and reliable (not "exactly" like women ...)
-They will always wait a new face to be fully ready before to really launch her (not "exactly" like women...)
-They have good and trustful relations with most scouts and mother agencies all over the world (not "exactly" like women...)
And i guess this way to manage everything without hype but in a very serious way pay also with clients.

Women, next...the others, they can have some peaks some season, but in the long term, they will never even get close to IMG.

Still as u said, it does not mean it is the best agency for any girl, and other agencies can do great too, but overall and considering all what models management include, IMG is just ahead.

.

Not sure Giedre is a good exemple for Women, as none of her big things really ever came from them, and in NY, she rather do less than what she did with NYMM...

Well ,basically there isnt a number 1 agency anymore ,right?:unsure The smaller agencies are able to bring their models to the top and keep them.
I mean Emily Diandato(not sure if thats the correct spelling) isnt with a top agency and they have been able to secure her topcontracts.I actually thought she would have been ''poached by now''.

^ thanks for the info, I was wondering what was going on with her since she hasn't had representation in NY for a few months now

Valeria Garcia: Women Direct -> Ford (Women)
Toni Garrn: Joy Milan -> Women Milan ?
Chrishell Stubbs: Fashion Milan -> Women Milan

I'm not saying that they did a bad job with her, but they are small with very few top models, and it's not that common for a small agency like that to have such a major girl like Toni. I guess it was mainly because of Joy's ties with Toni's original mother agent Modelwerk. Perhaps this change is because of Toni breaking it off with Modelwerk.

I'm thinking this could be a major blow for Joy. Besides the rising (?) Lisanne de Jong and Ilsi Wittek, their top girl is Siri and she's becoming a very rare sight in top magazines and campaigns also.

Joy is unfortunatly on the way down, 2 years ago, even if smaller they had no less possibility than Women, added to a more personal management, for the right girl Joy was a better place to be than Women.
But Joy has unfortunatly not anymore the team they had, and the hype has seriously faded.:(

Olga Sherer - Women Management -> New York Model Management

I really hope this is a better move for her career.
