Moncler Gamme Bleu F/W 14.15 Milan

This is almost too Thom Browne. This could easily be a diffusion line for his main collection...

It's hard for me to imagine anyone in these clothes. However, just look at it it made my day; it's brilliant.

i've had nightmares that were better than this...
...

Typical Thom Browne madness.

And I adore it as usual, for its straight-faced sense of whimsy.

Non of these looks are ever going to make it to the stores as is; the Collection pieces are pure showmanship, editorial-fodder and solely for pushing the brand. I always appreciate Thom for taking such straight-laced labels to that maddening zone. And I think he gets away with it.

His display of androgyny is so casual and laid back-- unlike the desperation of J W Anderson's. Thom's is a visual play of androgyny: The slightly masculine woman is replaced next by her identical male version-- and he's slightly feminine, and his femininity is playing off her masculinity, and visa-versa. Thom knows how to use a show to make a statement-- and sell once these pieces are in the stores.

Art and commerce. He gets it.

I have seen an interview with the boss of moncler and he seems to be a man very concerned with the profit and loss of the company, not that it is anything wrong, so I am really surprised to see this.
It could be showmanship, but I don't find the clothes in the stores particularly inspiring as well.

^^^ Without Thom's strong, quirky direction for the shows, the clothes are more luxury status-wear than visionary, high fashion offerings.

I don't know how well they're doing in sales, but I would think such a conservative label would not allow Thom to indulge in such extreme whimsy if it lessened their sales in any way. And, those down-puffers remain status pieces.
