I don't think her remark was ignorant at all - Natalie just isn't into fashion, and I don't think negatively of her because of that. She's never been a fashion maven, only on the red carpet

I actually disagree.
Fur is a trend. I think wearing faux fur tells you that you can follow that trend without the bad things related to real fur. I also use faux fur, because i like how fur looks, but i don't agree with wearing the real one.

I'm a big animal rights activist and I don't have a problem with Faux fur.
I think it's actually good that more people are wearing Faux fur,
because it promotes that versus the real thing and shows that faux can be just as "stylish" as the real thing.

considering that it's probably faux fur I find it more interesting that she seems to wear that black leather tote a lot e.g. post #676 but in a lot of other recent candids too (considering her vegan shoe line as you said)
