Nicky Hilton: ‘I’m an Accessories Addict’

It comes as no surprise that style guru Nicky Hilton has a love for all things fashionable. But despite the designer shoes and vintage dresses lining her closet, the heiress says it’s jewelry she simply can’t resist. “I’ve been a jewelry collector forever,” she tells PEOPLE. “I love buying it, collecting it, I’m an accessories addict.”
She’s channeling that obsession into something tangible with the launch of her second jewelry collection, NICHOLAI, debuting this week at celeb-loved online fashion boutique Big Drop NYC.
The collection, a line of vintage art deco gems and edgier and more modern statement pieces, includes everything from chic bold cuffs and vibrant cocktail rings to pave and black rhodium rings, and pave noir fan necklaces and rings, many of which were inspired by memories of trying on her mother’s estate pieces when she was younger. “My mom has an amazing collection,” says Hilton, who was also inspired by Elizabeth Taylor and “that whole era” when creating her pieces.
And since she is such a connoisseur of gems, we had to know: what’s her ultimate jewelry “don’t”? “It used to be not mixing golds, but I’ve taken that off my list,” says Hilton, who also has a purse line. “But I definitely think there such a thing as too much. If you’re wearing a diamond choker, no earrings.”
Check out the collection at Big Drop NYC soon; the heiress will also be on hand at the company’s SoHo store Thursday during Fashion’s Night Out, where guests will have the opportunity to get styled by Hilton with pieces from NICHOLAI and looks by Big Drop.
