When Nicky Hilton got engaged to boyfriend James Rothschild in August 2014, she had no doubt in her mind which designer she'd choose for her big day. "Ever since I was a little girl I wanted Valentino to design my wedding dress. Valentino is the definition of timeless elegance, I don't think there's another couture house like it," Hilton told Bazaar over the phone from London where she's set to marry on Friday, July 10. The hotel heiress worked with the couturiers for six months to create her dream dress. "I went through every look from their collections over the last 10 years. I studied the archives, and I just sent notes about details I liked—a certain sleeve, a high neckline." The final confection was a guipure lace gown, embellished with crystals, attached to a precious balloon skirt with a 3 meter-long train—adding custom Christian Louboutin pumps inscribed with "Mrs. Rothschild" on the heels. Hilton says most of all she will miss jetting off to Paris for her fittings. Below, Bazaar shares an exclusive first look at her Valentino Couture wedding dress, and custom flower girl dresses by Marie Chantal.

While I love the gown, I don't think it's right for her. It doesn't suit her normal "image" really. She's trying too hard to be demur.

What do you want her to wear on her wedding day, something edgy?

I think it's beautiful and she has loved Valentino for a very long time, who would pass up Valentino haute couture for their wedding gown?

No, no - I don't think anyone should ever wear anything too edgy or risqué for their wedding. As I said, I think the gown is beautiful; Valentino can do no wrong. But for Nicky Hilton that dress just doesn't seem to suit her normal style. She's not one to be completely covered-up. It's like she was trying a bit too hard to emulate royalty or something.

Is it me or is the waist way too high? I thought I would love the dress up close but... I don't. Something is off here but congrats to her,

I don't like the dress.
Usually I love Valentino weeding dresses, but not this one

It always seems a little silly to me when celebrities make their weddings out to be such a royal affair so I think that's why I think the gown seems a little over the top. Its really just missing a tiara ... but nevertheless its beautiful. I loved her rehearsal dinner dress the most.
