Nina Ricci F/W 09.10 Paris

There were some nice things, but most of them are truly hideous. That trouser with the pink glittery thing is absolutely groooooooooosseeeeeeeeeeee. I never did like Theyskens' work but this is beyond awful or I don't know haha xD. It does look like his final show for Ricci lol

Omg Jamess those shoes you posted up are ridiculous!!!!! One must not have a fear of heights to wear those... As for Theyskens, I never did think he was as brilliant at Nina Ricci as he was at Rochas. I remember being devastated when I found out they were closing up Rochas as I had always planned on getting my future wedding dress from them... However, I will confirm that his cuts are very hard to wear! My mom has a great body and she can barely move in her Rochas dresses and she is a former model, 5' 9" and 120 pounds still...after having two kids... (crosses fingers that I got her genes). It looks like his stuff at Nina Ricci are easier to wear, but I also feel tlike they lack the elegant yet eyedropping quality they had at Rochas. Of course, Rochas prices were also Balmain-ridiculously high

Ummm, those ultra-high 'floating' shoes are apparently retailiing for US$7,150!!!! HOLY COW!! Is that more expensive than a Haute Couture shoe?!

I mean, I'm open minded when it comes to price. A $7,000 gown I get. A $7,000 alligator handbag I get. $7,000 platform shoes that can't even realistically be worn very often just seems insane.

I'm assuming (or hoping) that they're only being produced in limited quantities.

Those shoes are u-g-l-y and proof that as long as you stick a label on anything, people will buy it.

I can't wait until next season when some editor/fashionista wears them. I feel like it's definitely going to be a photo frenzy. But they kind of scream "attention wh*re".

you can buy the same thing in specialized Drag Queen shops

Will check them out, thanks^_^

They also have 5 inch ones.
I still love those shoes, they are like a fantasy:heart:
Although the drag queen picture killed it a little

The shoes look a lot better from the JAk & JIL blog

This fabric is lush

These would be AMAZING without the platform or a lot less of it at least a 5 in version would be great

the teal-colored ones are to die for, if I'm not mistaken I read that there's horse hair on them

After recently watching the wonderful 8+ minute video of the collection, I had to come and post again here in this thread.

It is so fascinating that when this first came out, I hated everything about it. Now I can't get enough of it. I've watched this video at least 50 times in the last few days because I'm so entranced and mesmerized by the vision that was presented here. It is such a strong statement. What it is that he is said with this collection, and I still don't even know what he meant to say for sure, is so powerful...whatever it is.

And the music...it kills me. When Max Richter's "Haunted Ocean" starts playing (about 7:10 into the video) I nearly break down in tears, it is so stunning, melancholy and emotional. Definitely worth watching.

I was inspired to check out this collection after viewing this shot of Sigrid Agren from Vogue Russia 2009:

I'm just in awe of how amazing this collection is. And after sifting through people's initial reactions to it in 2009, I'm interested to find out if anyone feels differently about it in hindsight; particularly those who initially had an aversion to it.
