'Nu-Rave'

I like this. What I will take from it is introducing flashes of neon into outfits via a belt or bag. I am kicking myself for throwing out a fantastic fluro yellow hoodie from when I was about 14, only a few months ago. The rave scene still exists to some degree among young kids- and the drugs are still there. It's just not "special" anymore. In the 90s as a raver there was the sense that you were different and part of a new frontier. I think these styles and movements get recycled because people want to get back a nostalgic taste of what that felt like.

80s / tight brights / nu rave - will it last?

this is a massive high street trend at the moment, and has been around for a wee while - but will it last much longer? body conscious dressing featured in the A/W catwalks... so will the current trend stick around then evolve into blue/black bandage dresses, leggings and Alaia inspired styles, or have we had enough?

I'm not quite sure this specific trend has caught on in the US. We are still stuck on hipster mode

I hope it does not. I feel it is part of the hipster trend, PerfectPerfect.

i was a 'club kid' then a raver later. so i like this stuff in general. but on me now i just like a few slices of neon. it's fresh. and i think a look is pretty drab without that now.

This seems to be over, thank God.

I have been looking through billions of magazines lately (mainly i-D's of the last few months) for school assignments, I think I had a 'New Rave' overdose.:yuk:

I really hope this trend goes away really soon.
I enjoy some of the music but I hate slogan t-shirts. High Street shops seems to be writing anything on them nowdays.

i have to agree, i'm begining to hate slogan tees with a passion.

so many people don't really think about what they're saying through their clothing.... i mean, seeing some boring, badly dressed person wearing something like this:

It's like - yeh right! When have you EVER lived your life "on the edge"?!

horrorshow.

ths is why i almost exclusively dress black. can't stand the way they use colours.

thefunkykitten please source that picture =)

yes I agree with you, if you're going to wear slogan-tees at least choose one that suits your personality

When I think of this "rave" look and how it's making a comeback, for some reason, I dont think of Christopher Kane...My memories immediately go back to Walter VanBierondock (sp?) and his W&LT line, and a Raf Simons collection from a few seasons back (pre-Jil)..

^he's def got some women's legs

I'm wondering if this really is going to break in to a real big trend. "club fashion" is expanding but it doesn't really have the same homogeneity as this..
on yet another note, body conscious dresses a la Alaia mostly in black looks like coming.

when done the wrong way...

its just:yuk::hardhead::evil:

i think that the cook kids clubbers/scenesters/whoever do it quite well but when it filters down to the masses....

lets say yesterday i saw a 15 yr old wearing enough plastic neon jewellery to fill a tip, neon clothing so layered it was difficult to make out whether she had a body and finally a hideous pair of multicoloured sneakers.

i am traumatised. someone rip my eyes out.:ninja:

i agree. if youre going to look like a gigantic peice of sh*t...do it well. theres a few kids around here that go all out with the bernard willhelm, jeremy scott etc junk and can get away with it...but theres also always some chubby 16 year old super gay kids with like the gold necklaces and fanny packs and i cant even look them in the eye they seem so lost and impressionable and insecure and ******** as hell.
